That was the combination Saban had in 2018 and that didn't work since they lost to Clemson 44-16. That may be the combination except Golding will call the plays instead of Tosh which he did at Alabama.
Yeah I think this is the combo because 247 said today that there is nothing imminent with Arnett

Except I’m 100% sure that Golding would want to bring in Alabama DB coach Carl Scott so either Golding is coaching LB’s or Tosh is coaching LB’s and Golding doesn’t have a position group

Although he coaches LBs at Bama, Golding's career has been mostly DBs.

Sure don't like the way the hunt for a DC seems like it's going. I'm sure I'm being alarmist but it seems like were throwing a trawling net out and seeing what we get.
I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Sark took his shots with Muschamp and Quinn, and I'm glad he did.

Signs seems to be pointing towards grabbing Golding after the national championship, but not ruling anything out considering Sark hired Terry Joseph without his name being mentioned a single time by anyone.

247 had an update on Tosh Lupoi saying he and Sark have had "substantial" conversations about a spot on the new defensive staff, but it won't be for playcalling duties.

Another potential option for Lupoi is the open DC position at Oregon.

If he's offered that, likely not much Texas can do.

I don't like hiring a coach where the fans are happy to see him go. They say his defense doesn't do well in big games. Alabama was 16th in total defense the year before he was the DC and this year they were 32nd.

On the hand he had a top ten defense at UTSA and Saban hired him at 33 years old. My hope is that he will do better without the Saban grind and he will a great defensive staff.

I say that if Alabama's defense plays like crap tomorrow then Golding is out. :)

This breaks my heart as far as his recruiting. He is a elite recruiter.

However, not at the price of him being the playcaller. Saban gave him one year and Bye. In Saban I trust. :)

How many years has Doblin been DC at BAMA?

On the CBs coach...IT has heard Pete Golding would want to bring Bama's Karl Scott with him, but Saban could work hard to keep him.

They haven't heard anything more on Derrick Ansley or Corey Raymond.

I'm assuming we have a DC and staff finalized by the end of the week. With the title game tonight and Sark fully working on Texas I expect things to pick up.

Disclaimer: I have no idea how good a coach Pete Golding is.

But as I've followed all of this stuff over the past week or so, I get the impression that there are not all that many assistant coaches out there that a team's fanbase doesn't hate.

When Bama's defense plays well, it's due to Saban. When it plays bad, that's on Golding. Typical fans, lol.
