Spoke to a well connected friend today. I called him over a week ago. Today, he calls me back. Go figure. Glad he did.
Yes, the BMDs are not only active, but extremely active. There is an obvious #1 choice and that is the primary pursuit. Lining things up. A buyout is no longer an issue. Neither is new salary for new coach, even if its someone like Urban. BMDs feel betrayed by CTH for reasons I've stated here already.
Here's an exchange that I at least tried to write down as I was talking to him.
"Mark, I can't express to you the frustration that is currently being felt with Herman by people who matter in this program, and outside this program. Thing is, CTH does not have CDC in his corner that would normally be the case. CDC by himself would be willing to see this through to the end of the season. CTH could redeem himself in that set up. But there is little faith it can happen. There is talk of doing this before the season is over. We've not done that before but given the times we live in, it could very well happen. Whats more, everybody in those cigar rooms seem to be on the same page."
There is a small grouping of other names that are being talked about, should things not materialize with Urban. He did not give me those names, said it wasn't anything really decided yet anyway. He said for the time being, Urban is the real focus.
CDC is not a happy man these days. CTH has made him look bad and the timing (OU game, Sam alone at the end) just sucked. CDC is responsible for the current deal CTH has and feels some ownership to that issue, . . my friend said that CDC seems receptive to BMDs at this point, likely because of that fact.
At the end of my call with him, I felt like a lot has transpired since the OU game that we haven't been aware of. Our speculation has been confirmed. I didn't think it would be as far as it is, but things are about to get very interesting for Texas fans and this board.
So if we got another coach how will they handle The Eyes of Texas? I don’t really blame Herman for The Eyes of Texas. He was wanting to try to keep the team together and keep everyone happy. I mean what is the coach supposed to do? The fans and BMDs want the song and a hand full of players, but all the black players don’t want to stay so what do you do? It’s dissension on both sides no matter what you do. It’s not all of a sudden going to go away if Urban Meyer walks through the door. We’ll see what happens. There’s no real answer so that everyone goes away happy.I posted this in the Herman Needs To Go thread, thought I'd put it here, too.

I have a pretty good idea how he would handle it. And it would work, IMO.So if we got another coach how will they handle The Eyes of Texas? I don’t really blame Herman for The Eyes of Texas. You tell them to stay for the EoT out of respect for the University and the fans. If they dont like that, then they can hit the portal. It's not like they didnt know that Texas sings the EoT when they committed. So if we got another coach how will they handle The Eyes of Texas? I don’t really blame Herman for The Eyes of Texas. They are a mirror image of what's going on in this country, and it breaks my heart to see it.Omg, the Longhorns and Cowboys are the same exact team. Predictable offense, loads of injuries, defense that plays good at times, but then gives up critical plays, all this and waiting until late in the game to come back. Like mirror images of each other.
I have no idea why you feel that way...why does this have a Saban feel to it?
FWIW, adding someone's title to his initials (CTH) is annoying and has a SEC feel to it

Texas wearing alternate whites this weekend.
It looks like a gimmick to save a certain coaches' job. They are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1970 national championship team.
First time all white will be worn at home since 1950.
