I remember listening to Herman a year or 2 ago and he was talking about OL depth. He stated, "ideally, you want at least 8 guys you can count on for any season and you develop the rest".
I guess that meant you want 8 starter quality players where there is little to no drop off in talent. Does UT have 8 guys for the 20 season that are at that level? I know they have depth, but is it at that level? I count Cosmi, Angilau, Okafor, Kerstetter and probably Tyler Johnson (I just think he is in the top 3 or 4 OL talents on the roster). After that you have Imade, Ghirmai, W. Tyler, C. Jones and R. Moore. All are unproven, like T. Johnson, but can you pick out 3 guys that would be little to no drop off?
Imade - is a Sr. so he has experience.
Ghirmai - saw limited action, but he does have talent and could be the backup C
C. Jones - ive heard the staff say nothing but great things about him
W. Tyler - has experience from Juco, but still an unknown
R. Moore - unknown, but same as Jones
I guess my top 3 to conplete the 8 are Imade, Ghirmai and Jones.
Hookfin, Garth, Karic, Majors and Parr need more time to develop (Hookfin is at the top of the list of moving to the next level). I guess only the staff knows who is ready and who isn't at this point.
