***Official Texas @ Stanford weekend baseball thread

Geez. I read up on this thread and we got WHOOPED by Stanford. That sucks after such a great series against LSU. Almost glad I didn't watch now! Oh well it's still Hook 'em all the live long day!

All is not lost folks. Think about this, Texas stays at #12 in D1 Baseball’s poll today. They move up to #10 in Baseball America’s poll.

Chris Del Conte stated that the goal is to be top 10 in every sport Texas competes at. I think that is very specific and a great goal to have. With the new staffs in place I believe that goal is far more attainable now than in recent years.

It does seem to drain towards the backstop.

It was crying shame the way that Sunday's game unfolded.  John, you're exactly right.

Here are a couple of tweets I made, one in-game, one later last night.

Joeywa, I used to have a whole lot of respect for that program. I was a big fan of MM and appreciated the way that his teams played the game. I am not as big a fan of Esquer including his Cal teams. I’d go to Jackie Robinson Stadium or Dedeaux. Hell go to Fullerton, go to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo they just put 8 mil in there facility. Do not go back to Stanford.

The contract was not renewed with Stanford.  There is no west coast trip next season.  There has been talk of a future series out west, but the opponent has not been announced yet.

You obviously forgot about basketball.
The sad part is I actually erased the last part of my comment where I was going to say that I wish men's basketball would get their act together but too late now! Seriously though, they have a great game against a good opponent one week and then lose to junior high teams the next. That, to me, indicates that it is not a lack of skill on the court but rather on the sidelines. Smart is wholly on the hotseat in my opinion. But I know less about basketball than I do baseball so I could be way off base. Pun absolutely intended.

I wouldn’t go back to Stanford, unless, the officials were from a neutral conference.  The announcers were brutal enough to justify it.

The home plate call just icing on the cake. Here’s mud in your eye, Blue!

May it rain on you, Stanford, every baseball weekend, and may your fans continue to sit wherever they want during any big home stand

(Now that was an embarrassment!)

Hook ‘em!

Glad we didn’t renew. Their gate is a joke.
As much as it has been a staple of my baseball season to see Texas play at Sunken Diamond, after this weekend I tend to agree with you Java.
