Five Thoughts Following The Loss To Maryland

Sam is not a QB. How many times/chances does he get to correct his disastrous late game losing errors? These errors have become almost routine and predictable. Maybe he'll never make another one, but damn I say enough is enough................. And then there is the coaching shit show. I'll stop here for now.

How much more evidence do you need?

USC, OSU, OU, WVU, T Tech, Maryland
I'm not sure anyone we put in at QB will succeed. Right now I don't have any confidence in our OC.

Tom Herman was arrogant to hire an OC who was about to be fired from Ohio State when there are many offensive coordinators would love an opportunity to coach at UT. Then when the fans questioned the wisdom of the hire, Herman's answer was he didn't call the plays and he's a good recruiter and he knew the Texas area. If an OC is good then he doesn't have to be a great recruiter.

JT Barrett's QB rating was 169.8 when Herman was his OC and 160.1 last year when Wilson was his OC. Barrett's QB rating for the two years when Beck was his OC fell to 139.2 and 135.3. Shane Buechele's rating his freshman year to give you an example was 136.

Finebaum was on ESPN a week ago saying Urban Meyer owes Tom Herman for winning a NC because of his work with Cardale Jones. If Herman wants to save this season then he needs to Cardale Jones one of the QB's. I don't believe Tim Beck is up to it.

I don't study X's and O's so I should probably keep my opinion to myself , but did anyone else think they tried to be to 'exotic' on offense and defense ?  Looked like they tried reinvent the wheel or something.

I have no idea what they were trying to do.....................just like last season.

We are a mediocre football program until we prove otherwise. The sunshine pumping all off-season was complete nonsense and has been for the last several years. We are not a program that can take any opponent lightly until we start playing like a talented team again.

The worst part of where we are right now is what is going on around us in conference and at a&m. Ou, Osu, Tcu, and tech all manage to field explosive offenses with solid quarterback play year in and year out. For whatever reason, Texas is unable to manufacture a competent offense every single year. I'm done buying the hype with this team. Tom needs to get his act together soon or this is Charlie Strong 2.0.

Herman should have said before the Bowl game that Beck will continue to call the plays and then keep him. If he was going to show the fans that he needed to call the plays then he should have fired him during the off season.

Instead he showed no confidence in Beck then kept him and played this I'm not going to tell who is calling the plays.

I had a thought that the slow start on defense may have been due to the offense they practice against. Maybe it just took them a few series to adjust to an offense that plays fast.

I'm not a big fan of slow developing run plays, requiring the O-line to hold blocks for too long. The Texas O was so much more efficient when they played at a faster clip. It didn't make sense to abandon that pace.
this a thousand times...they played like their feet were in mud, no urgency, no energy, and the defense just ate them up. Then suddenly they switched it up, quickened the pace and started feeding Ingram in the second quarter and it was like a different team. What if we eventually find out that was Beck taking over calling plays for Herman ?   Highly doubt it but you never know

In his press conference today he said they did that so the team wouldn’t have time to “think” and just go make a play. Well coach it worked amazing so why did you stop?

There’s a lot that doesn’t make sense.

“That’s just what they’ll be expecting us to do.”
