Barlow is also 3a. I'm not saying he isn't talented because he definitely is and has demonstrated some solid ability. I'm very familiar with him since he plays within my home coverage area back in southeast Texas. I'm just saying we should consider this in evaluating his performance vs another player, especially like Cain because of where he goes and who he plays. He is definitely talented and I know it wouldn't be the most popular take, but I wouldn't be mad with him and derrian brown.
I don't know that he's our first take, but he's definitely a second take. Barlow-Brown wouldn't be a bad RB class.

The world is filled with stars and HOF'ers who grew up in places like Newton, Texas . . . and Port Neches or Groves.

I'd take Brown!  As long as he does not run upright like CWIII and he can hold on to the ball....I take his offer list as worthy!

Barlow is the kind of kid fat Pat takes year in and out.

And Palestine (Peterson), and Hooks (Sims) and Big Sandy (Overstreet) ...

Can you believe EJ and Roach both said if Wilson decommits he will look at aggy before us?  Freakin ridiculous

Something's fishy with that whole deal. A coach who's dumb enough to step out of line with a recruit is not going to be on Herman's staff IMO. My very random guess is Wilson doesn't want to come to Texas for other reasons, like an urge to explore new places or things, and is using some small perceived slight as an excuse to not face people in his life telling him to stay home.

Some here have mentioned that Mehringer burned some bridges with Wilson. I am not impressed with him and I think he's been a bit lucky with all thr WR talent in the state the last couple of years. I saw that Beck is now heading up Higgins' recruitment, so who knows maybe a change may be in store if he can't close the deal on top flight guys. Giles isn't the greatest recruiter, but he coaches them up with the best out there, so he gets a pass. Mehringet better do likewise, imho

Yep, it sounds fishy to me also. I have a hard time believing that coaches would be that stupid or that Herman would even put up with it. I think a lot of what you are reading about the Wilson situation is embellishment and/or fantasy.

Serious question here.

Do you really think Mehringer is stupid enough to burn some bridges with what most people think is the #1 WR ranked in the country?

I may very well be wrong but I don't for one minute.

I don’t want to call the man stupid, but from what we’ve been told the recruitment was mishandled and that is probably being polite. Beck taking over the lead with Higgins is also very telling IMO.

This could be something we discuss later on post NSD.

I wonder if Mehringer was told to look for another job but couldn’t find one?

Or will be told that during this upcoming off-season.

I get that it was botched, but aggy, sheesh. Their QBs are terrible. I can see him going somewhere with a good QB though. Just not aggy.
We are getting ahead of ourselves anyway. There’s a real chance that OSU does the wrong thing and retains Meyer after all of this mess.

I wouldn’t be one bit surprised if he was replaced in the offseason. Especially if a name like David Beaty hit the market.
