Kevin Sumlin Fired At A&M

So how much could this actually cost the Aggie's ,  They still have to pay Sumlin a pretty large amount,  plus I am sure Fisher has a pretty steep buyout they would need to pay Florida State plus pay him whatever contract they offer.  Then what do they owe the Defensive Coordinator they got from LSU....
Not sure about his assistants, but they owe Sumlin 10.4 million within 60 Days. The rumored contract for Fisher is north of 7 million per year.

10.4 mil due to Sumlin in 60 days

7.5 mil annually for 5 yrs for Fisher

7 mil is Fisher’s FSU buyout at FSU

Quick math says that the ags need to come up with 17.4 mil quickly, and then another 37.5 mil for Fisher’s purported salary offer.  This doesn’t include the salaries for his assistant coaches and staff.

So where do the farmers find that kind of cash that quickly?
Hope they’ve been saving up.

Chavis' has a buyout too.

In response to Fischer's season was an anomaly . . . I liken it to Mack Brown, who was also a solid coach back in the day but started sliding in the twilight of his career. It was still Mack Brown, but the results were diminishing.

I think aggy is pursuing a coach who is on the back side of his career.

The bigger the screw up this whole ordeal turns out to be, the happier I'll be. he he

You think he’s hit the backside of career already? I’m not so sure about that. This year was far below the standards he has set there, but I want to see if it becomes a trend before I write him off as one heading into the twilight zone.

I personally feel like they are getting more of the same for Jimbo once it becomes official, the ACC is/was an easier conference to win in until Dabo got Clemson rolling and they only play 8 conference games as well.  Jimbo had JW and Sumlin had JM outside of that, the Aggies are staring down the BCS appearances and the National Title.

Only Saban can seem to keep a program rolling with game managers.  Sumlin and Jimbo both had generational talents to boost their resume.

Mack Brown was lucky to have VY and then Colt....

You’d have to imagine this year though was an anomaly considering the amount of success he has had at FSU. Hiring him would be a big pickup for A&M things considered.
The thought of Fisher and Brewster being in agland is plenty to worry about in terms of recruiting.

I think the biggest issue with recruiting we are going to have is  a 6 win and 6 loss record and next years  team could very well have more losses than this years due to the loss of so many players .  My question is if Jimbo does come to the Aggies then who does Florida State put their focus on and would they pump up the money to keep Brewster and Craig .

Better yet we open up and pay those two to come here

Charlie Strong and Willie Taggart are two names that have already been tossed out there. Brewster and Craig will likely follow Jimbo.

Yes, i do. He went 5-7 with a team that was picked in the top 3. This wasn't an example of what injuries can do to a team. They crapped the bed right out of the blocks.

Frankly, I think time and stress has taken its toll on Jimbo. That Winston saga was particularly difficult.

But that stuff doesn't change just because you change addresses.

If Jimbo goes to aggy, it will be because of the perceived lack of support he gets at FSU. And of course, the money.

Just seems odd. He leaves a premier program that has tradition steeped in national championships and goes to a program where they have to make that stuff up from time to time and is often ridiculed by both Texas and the rest of their SEC brethren.

They were picked in the top 3 by preseason rankings that been proven to be worthless year in and out. They crapped the bed right of the blocks because they lost their starting QB (who I think is pretty good) week one against Alabama and were forced to play a freshmen who showed he was far from ready this year. They also lost Dalvin Cook over the offseason and their offensive line took a step back so it wasn’t shocking they took their lumps offensively.

There’s a variety of things going on out there that could have Jimbo looking for a fresh start. Someone I trust told me he really wanted the Auburn job to open up, but Gus Malzahn beating Bama closed that door. But I disagree that this year all things considered that this means Jimbo is heading for the twilight of his career. He’s still got plenty of gas in tank.

Time will tell.

I've heard the Akies of Saw are wanting Malzahn to come back "home." I've also heard them toss around the name of Houston Nutt.

Malzahn would require a bunch of cash to come home after the success he's having at Auburn. But its been brutal there for him and his family.

Yeah Arkansas ain’t getting Gus at this point. I’m not sure who they will end up with at this point.
