Herman's staff?

If  McGuire doesn't take UT job or the head coaching job at a school he is intrigued by, he will get other offers. His fallback would be Kansas. He is personal friends with coach there. But I would assume he gets a lot better offer. Herman would be stupid to not go after him. Doubt he turns UT down twice. Plus he would have security for the next three years at least. I imagine Texas is the frontrunner if he is asked. But I wouldn't dismiss OU as going after him. Stoops has his WR and recruits Cedar Hill a lot.

Who will Stoops fire to bring a MacGuire on? The one who just made Dede Westbrook an all-american?

Where does OU put him? Who's out?

Stoops has called before. McGuire has turned down jobs for years. His son is graduating.

He has ties to TCU also. Them and A&M will probably be calling  Although like Strong last year, he may not be listening to Sumlin. No security there.

Joey McGuire is a great hire and will be snatched up by someone. I hope its UT rather than a rival. Whoever replaces him will be stacked at Cedar Hill. A pipeline to that talent in the Desoto, Cedar Hill, Duncanville, Lancaster, Oak Cliff, Grand Prairie area will be huge. He also has coached against all the Arlington and Irving Schools. He basically has an open door to all the Southwest Dallas Area high schools all the way to Ellis county.

Mike Stoops is gone😎

MacGuire's reputation is on the offensive side. No one knows Cedar Hill for defense. They have to outscore everybody they play.

I don't think Bob will fire Mikey. I don't think Bob will allow that. When Mike goes, if he goes, it will be because he takes a job elsewhere, IMO.

Arkansas. No one wants to get into Texas worse than Coach Enema. IMO, he would make a place for MacGuire just to get a foothold in this state. Yeah, they got Whaley last year. But thats the point. Ever since they left the SWC, it's always onesies and twosies when it comes to get big name recruits from Texas.

Okie State might entertain him, also.

Houston's shakeup could result in an offer there.

My witty attempt to magnify the nepotism of stoops pushing out Venables to bring his bro back to OU got derailed somehow😎

Thanks for the update. Inside Texas reported this on Friday as a very likely outcome.

i don't know anything about this guy or what rutgers did this year.  i'm all for giving someone a chance, but we're Texas.  it doesn't seem like the OC position is one you want to give someone a chance with; we already went thru that.  i'm interested in reading some of the opinions on this hire.

having been on this board for several years and knowing everyone's desire for a "wow factor", it will be quite interesting to see the opinions.

Joey is known for defense fellas. He was the DB coach before he took the head job at Cedar Hill. If he gets a college job more than likely it will be on the defensive side of the ball.
