I wouldn't have a problem with it. He could be a voice of experience for the rest of a young staff.
His deal at Baylor was he joined a program where most of the talent was on the offensive side of the ball. Once Baylor recruiting improved and talent began coming, his defenses became better.
I would just wonder about his age. That experience thing can cut both ways.

My guess is that it doesn't matters all that much who the OC is with regard to style. I believe we will run Herman's offense. The question is ability to call plays.

I don't know why we'd go after McGuire. Not that he isn't a very good coach. But you just dismissed a guy who was basically a clone and had proven his recruiting metal at this level already.
I'd really like to see Herman get Jeff Traylor back here.

It's probably as simple as Herman wants his people that he knows on his staff. Can't really blame him.
That being said, I'm not even convinced that he will go after McGuire.

McGuire was Strongs first choice. He turned him down to coach his son. FYI, a son who isn't even a starter. I know first hand that he gets offers every year. Texas was the only one he ever considered because it is his dream job. He and Herman are friends and have talked since Herman took job. But a job didn't come up. Its a forgone conclusion he is probably leaving this year for a college job. No doubt he will be one of, if not, the best recruiters in this state. His players love him. He is also well liked with other coaches.
Although I know for a fact he is intrigued by a head coaching job at a lower level school, who's job came open. But I doubt it pays as much as a UT assistant. I am telling you this source is the one who would know it all. I sat with them at the Cedar Hill game yesterday.
I believe Herman didn't bring it up because he knows he was still coaching and he is after his WR. He didn't want it to seem like they were a package deal.
If McGuire goes to Texas, it would not surprise me if Rambo doesn't follow. His kids love him.

If McGuire doesn't take UT job or the head coaching job at a school he is intrigued by, he will get other offers. His fallback would be Kansas. He is personal friends with coach there. But I would assume he gets a lot better offer. Herman would be stupid to not go after him. Doubt he turns UT down twice. Plus he would have security for the next three years at least. I imagine Texas is the frontrunner if he is asked. But I wouldn't dismiss OU as going after him. Stoops has his WR and recruits Cedar Hill a lot.
