1st post!
Been following the site for a few years now, but decided to step out of my trolling, hermit closet, and be a part of the conversation.
I agree with the previous post by ah-blong.
Regardless of what shakes out with Hud or even Cobb, we've done an amazing job recruiting the past two classes. I say "we" like I had something to do with it, CS and Co. has done an extraordinary job.
During his brief tenure so far and rebuilding an absolute dumpster fire, no offense to the years before Mack gave up, but with minimal wins under our standards CS had been a recruiting giant.
Let's not forget what he's done and who's he's brought into this program the past two classes-- coaches and players alike. Young, talented and hungry. Most coaches with this much outside scrutiny over the win column couldn't do half as well. Makes me feel good to know that sometimes outside of the wins, kids and parents want to attend a university bc of the right people and academics, and seeing the greatness in football that is about to come.
Back on the football front, and crazy we're talking recruiting at this time of the year, we've landed an incredible class. I'm not looking for perfection but damn the talent is there all across the depth chart. Let's just not forget what we have. Hud and Cobb would be an immediate impact, but if not, we will still be solid.
Watching this last signing day was better than Christmas, freaking amazing-- my wife genuinely started to worry about my sanity and whether I had developed turrets as I watched. My children just thought silly daddy and joined my hootin' and hollering, but probably more just to get a chance to yell and scream (although my 2 yr. old son has learned to articulate his fingers into the the Hook'em horns sign and yell hoo hem hoorns-- don't judge me!)
Recruitng, based on the past few rough win records under CS, has been incredible. Let's not forget that, and the absolute talent pool that is ready to bring us back around.
History is cyclic, and I can't help but feel like this program is about to bring this giant back into the forefront and terrify everyone. Everyone loves to kick a successful big dog while their down bc it's the only time they can. But seriously, things are changing. This young and talented team is growing up, and they're about to make it nationally known.
All the pieces are their, and this puzzles is looking more and more complete. This is our year to make it known:
Don't mess with Texas.
