Good win. 2/4 would be a good result this series, 3/4 would be excellent.

Stanford is gonna win some ballgames this year, so this is a RPI booster type series.

STANFORD 3/5/2

Some may disagree, but Stanford has some really good pitching.  They'll be a Top 25 team before it's all said and done.

I don't doubt that. But top 25 means nothing to me. We need to win three out of four here. That would be good. "Excellent"would've been a sweep.

Augie:

"Imperfect game for both teams, as it is for most college teams at this time of year."

"Kyle set the tone for everybody."

"He's (Shugart) is an intense competitor but he also has a 97 MPH fastball.  It's his competitiveness and will to win that separates him."

"We've been behind for two innings this season, and we've lost both times.  Just bad timing (laughs)"

It may not, but very few teams go against comparable Top 25 teams and sweep, especially early in the season.  As fans, I know we expect to win 'em all.  Unfortunately, this is still a game of skill with a LOT of luck and breaks to deal with, and as such, expecting perfection or excellence (translated-undefeated in every series,) is a pipe dream.  Hey, I'd love to win every game, but reality tells me that I'm more likely to get struck by lightning than to see that in collegiate baseball.

I appreciate y'all hanging around and the banter.  If I missed a post or a question, please fire away and I'll try to answer.

Tomorrow's game is at 3:30 PM and I'll be right here to enjoy it with you folks.

Hook Em!

I did not expect a sweep. But Texas baseball standards are better than 500 at home. Been that way ever since I was a kid and I'm not giving it up.
