Texas recently extended an offer to Ryan McCollom the current Aggie commit.

McCollom says he has a good relationship with new OL coach Mike Mattox and that Texas was his dream school.

Will not take an OV to Texas

Wickline turned out to be a real disaster for Texas.
More 247 --

With McCollum out of the picture, Texas could turn to Waco La Vega product Waahid Muhammad as potential option at tackle.  A three-star prospect, McCollum is ranked as the No. 123 offensive tackle in the country and No. 156 overall prospect in the state, according to 247Sports Composite.

You all have been asking for an update on Richmond George Ranche's Darius Anderson, and we were able to talk to a couple sources this week to get some info.

Texas reached out to Anderson on Tuesday of this week (believe it was RBs coach Tommie Robinson) to touch base. One source told us Texas is trying to get Anderson on campus for a visit, but nothing has been set up.

We're told Anderson will visit TCU next week (January 15) and Anderson is still deciding on what he'll do for the final two visit weekends of the year.

The vibe we picked up from people this week is that TCU could be the team to beat. In fact, there's some thought that Anderson could commit to TCU on his visit next weekend. If he doesn't, Texas stands a good chance of getting Anderson in for a campus.

"I have asked him (about visits) and told him to try to take three, but he hasn't told me which ones he'll go to," a source close to the situation said.

Anderson, who recently decommitted from Missouri, has pretty much eliminated Mizzou from consideration. One source said Anderson is expected to stay closer to home, which means this one could come down to TCU, Texas and A&M.

As for UT, Anderson isn't saying much, but people close to him have told him about the history of UT's football program, Texas' academic reputation and that it would be a good place for him. That can't hurt.

The visit to TCU on the 15th will determine whether or not Texas has a chance in this one. (Suchomel)

Football Brainiacs --

"– Broderick Harrell: In case Texas does end up losing Obi Eboh, I wanted to highlight someone I think would be an excellent potential replacement. 2016 CB Broderick Harrell out of Wolfforth, Texas is a sleeper who is only recently being discovered. He picked up an offer from UTEP late last week and promptly committed. Harrell has plenty of size for a Big 12 CB at around 5’11.5 and 186 lbs. He also has the requisite speed for the position. He ran a verified 10.88 100 last year. Harrell gets in and out of his breaks quickly. Texas coaches put a premium on guys who can get down hill in a hurry and be physical but also have the ability to find the ball. On film Harrell demonstrates both his ability to become the wide receiver and play the ball and the ability to transition and get down hill in an off technique…and then destroy the wide receiver.'

Scout review of Shack (the have one for every visitor) --

Zach Shackelford will make his official visit with Texas this weekend. He has been talked about across message boards by Texas fans as much as any recruit over the last several months. With the offensive line position such a high priority, this would be a great accomplishment for Charlie Strong and the rest of the Texas coaching staff. Shackelford has been a Kansas State verbal commitment since August 24th, 2015. Texas has their work cut out for them, but I like the plan in place. Zach Shackelford is one to watch this weekend.

Inside the Numbers

Class 2016
Kansas State Verbal Commitment
Belton (Texas)
Belton High School
6-foot-4, 290-pounds
Offensive Guard
Position Rank No 34
Midland OG Rank No 7
Texas OG Rank No 7

Scout.com Take

Shackelford plays outside as a left tackle for his high school team, but likely projects best at the P5 level to a guard position. Plays with overt aggression. Tenacious player who plays through the whistle. Vigorously finishes blocks, especially in the run game. Because of playing experience, possibly position-versatile as OG or OT. Sometimes bends at the waist. Will be even better with improved foot quickness and pad level consistency.

Hopefully Ol Sterlin Gilbert has someone of value lined up. I dont trust Charlie to make the right hire, he already made two bad hires at Wr.

Just my opinion but I thought Jay did a pretty good job as a WR coach and a very admirable job as a last second OC.

It makes sense that Norvell would want to go to another team instead of going from OC to WR coach again.
Technically, I think he was just put in charge of play-calling. I don't know that he was ever actually given the title of Offensive Coordinator. Regardless, he knew the deal.
