Henderson has been salty, indeed. Unfortunately, they get my old team Daingerfield next week. Don't think the Tigers will give them a game.

There's a story there for some good sportswriter (Daingerfield). The Obama war on coal has pretty much ended a football dynasty there. One coal plant (built when I was a teen) was the biggest corporate taxpayer for their district. Another coal plant 10 miles away is also a major employer. The local plant is all but shut down now as a result of ridiculous regulations that are designed to bankrupt the industry.

Less than half of Daingerfield's small population now are households with school aged children. The 8th grade team, normally one of the largest participation grades, has only 17 players this year. They'll drop to Class 3A Div II next year when the UIL does their realignment thing.

Daingerfield simply has to get Gilmer, Atlanta, Gladewater and Henderson OFF their schedule. By the time their district play rolls around, they're so beat up it defeats the purpose of playing higher caliber competition. The numbers just don't work for Daingerfield anymore.

Ok folks, got some news from a couple of games last night with Texas recruits in them. 

Sam Ehlinger broke an Austin Westlake school record last night for rushing yards with 267 yards on 12 carries in their win over Austin High.

He also scored FIVE touchdowns, one for 77 yards. He averaged 24 yards per carry.

DeMarco Boyd (Gilmer) had a 36-yd TD reception and an Interception return for a touchdown in the first half of their win over Daingerfield.

Tren'Davian Dickson of Navasota had 4 touchdowns on pass receptions of 7, 15, 15 and 93 yards in their win over New Orleans New Tech.
