Charlie Strong Saturday 8/22 Presser (with players)

I still don't understand how Lampkin is affected by Strong not releasing him.
My understanding is that he will have the same rule as Cecil Cherry who has to sit out this year at South Florida. Lamkin will not be able to play for OU this year. If CS would have released him then Lamkin would have been able to play for OU this year.

Again, that's my understanding, but that might not be correct.

Does Lampkin lose a year of eligibility?  Can he use next year as a redshirt year and still play 4 years at OU?  Does it make a difference that he is signing on with an in-conference team?  Does it make a difference (different from Cherry) that he was never admitted to UT because he failed to qualify?

Lampkin signed a LOI specifically to Texas. Texas has the option on releasing him from that LOI. Charlie has chosen not to.

He'll sit a year and play for OU next year. If he goes on scholarship for OU, he'll have to count against their 85 once that happens. He cannot be enrolled there now on their dime. He has to pay his way until next year.

I think SHA is right.

The only remaining question is does he lose one year of eligibility. If so he would still have four to play four.
