It still amazes me to think of the number of players that Strong put in the NFL this year. The last few days have been very, very busy, but if I remember correctly, between Louisville and Texas, he had 15 drafted. I have no idea how many UDFA's were signed. It wouldn't surprise me if the total was well over 20, between drafted and UDFA's.
Amazing. If a kid wants to play in the NFL, they need to play for Charlie. No doubt about it.

Had an aggy tell me today that A&M has more fans in Texas than UT. I'm assuming he took the info from the Clay Travis article.
I told him there is no possible way aggy could ever have a bigger fan base than ours, but he really seems to think so

You may as well beat your head against the wall than argue with aggy, but - if so - then
1. Why isn't there an "Aggy Network" or
2. Why has UT always sold a helluva lot more merchandise and generated more athletic department revenues than aggy?

I can't ever get a good read on Sharp. He is never afraid to speak his mind and clashes with faculty, which is disappointing for someone in the position of chancellor. However, he has proved to be a major player in moves like the Michael Young hire.

Oh, we have an idiot regent as well. But it was the Sharps and Stallings ilk that cause the fracture between UT and TAMU. Yeah, I know that Dodds arrogance propelled them on as well.
I'm not saying it wasn't a good move for A&M to move to the SEC - although, ultimately, I think you will find separating from UT will be catastrophic for your school. Because TAMU is as much a part of UT as it is of College Station and that will never change.
It's idiots like Beergut and the lunatics of Texags that have hijacked your fine institution. But there are actually some cool and level heads there, like yourself, and the hope is that the fools are finally outvoted and the adults can overcome the cult atmosphere and join the sane world.
I don't mean lose the rivalry with UT, but elevate it from the high school and frat levels and become men and women with a healthy respect for each other.

Texas A&M chancellor jabs at Texas, Longhorn Network: not 'real TV'
Former Texas A&M chancellor R. Bowen Loftin wasn't exactly known for a shy, low-profile approach to issues concerning the university's football program, and it turns out his old boss isn't about to follow that path, either.
Texas A&M system chancellor John Sharp spoke with the Texas Tribune on Thursday concerning several subjects, including the future of the Texas-Texas A&M football rivalry. Sharp said he had spoken to Texas chancellor Francisco Ciggaroa and Texas president Bill Powers in the past*, and that at the time the Longhorn officials weren't interested.
"I mean, we did go to them," Sharp said, per a Dallas Morning News transcription. "We asked them to play. I will say there is less enthusiasm among the Aggie network now than there was back then. We have new friends and we like playing LSU and we like playing these folks."
Sharp then took a pointed shot at the Aggies' old rivals from Austin.
"We're hopeful that sometime in the future there will be a bowl game that we're able to play in, you know, if [Texas] gets there," he said. "But the great thing about playing us is that you can get on real TV if you play us.â€
"Real TV" being, of course, the opposite of the much-ballyhooed but (relatively) rarely-seen Longhorn Network, which broadcasts multiple Texas home games per season. Sharp added that "of course I'm just joking about all of this,†but jokes that hit as close to home as Texas-Texas A&M rivalry banter inevitably does tend to be taken seriously whatever their intention.
The bottom line is that Sharp's comments leave the Texas-Texas A&M series precisely where it's been since the Aggies first decamped for the
SEC: with the actual participants (and also Whataburger) willing to bury the hatchet and play the game, and the officials in charge of making it happen uninterested or unwilling to make it happen.
