Rumph gone?

Great when new recruits just on board are able to get the skinny on matters !!

...with a Tweet !!
Really it's more like… "Great when new recruits just on board are able to get the skinny (OUT) on (INFO) that matters!!

… with a Tweet!!"

Kind of like hearing about the raid on UBL from a local resident… with a Tweet:

"Helicopter hovering above Abbottabad at 1AM (is a rare event)."

I'm certainly pro Rumph staying at UT, but can some elaborate as how this would be a "huge" loss for the university?  This recruiting class gained only (2) high school DL and (1) juco DL commitments and Cedric Reed underperformed this past season.  Malcolm Brown is a beast and I'm not discounting the role Rumph played in his maturity, but Ridgeway is the only other DL from this past season that visibly improved as the season progressed.

I promise I'm not trolling here and would love to have more information as to what Rumph brings that is "special" to the program as I recall hearing and reading the same things about Bo Davis when he was on the 40.  Thanks and hook em!

Do I hope that he stays on the 40 acres? Yes. But we also have to realize that as CS builds this staff and the program continues its march back to the top and gains more national attention the coaches will be in very high demand and will be fielding calls from other schools on an annual basis. To a greater extent natural attrition comes with the territory.

I have complete faith that CS will continue to find quality replacements for the coaches that leave and in the end everything will work out just fine.

Didn't I read somewhere that Reed was playing hurt all year?
Yep. Can't remember the injury exactly but I'm thinking maybe a knee injury of some kind.
Edit: just found it. He played with a torn meniscus.

Tough kid. I don't think that info came out until after the season.

I hope we can keep Rumph. I liked his threat to put one of his guys on a bus to Dallas with a mayonnaise sandwich and a cup of water. Or something like that.

Excellent point. When other teams are not trying to hire your assistants (GDGD), then that could be a sign as well.

I hope he stays. He is a great coach and a great recruiter. If it is about money, he will stay.  B)

It really is important to a program to have continuity, and to have good coaches leaving after one year doesn't help that. Back up the wheelbarrow Coach Rumph and collect your due.

The fact that he would even consider leaving, for the same position, tells me it's not about money.  UT's asst.'s are some of the highest paid in college football.  It's Austin and it's UT.
