Some more 247 summary--

Howe thinks Baker leans Georgia
--  Burton thinks we get him

On Newsome, it comes down to whether we want to go after him

I admit, I didn't watch his commitment until this morning.  From what everyone was saying, it sounded so painful to watch, I chose to avoid it for a little bit.  Well after watching it, I will certainly agree that it was painful.  With Newsome being a quiet kid, the fact that he was soft spoken and nervous in front of the media and a gathering of people didn't really surprise me.  However, the long awkward hesitation that ensued before announcing for UCLA was the strangest, most awkward commit announcement I have ever seen.

If I was Newsome and that unsure of the situation, I would have never gone through with that announcement.  He had time to step away and clear his head to ensure he was making a decision that he could be confident with.  It's almost like he looked at the UCLA hat and convinced himself to pull it together long enough to finally put the statement together.  I would say he went with UCLA with a 50.1% confidence level.

Some stuff from HD -- nuttin new

Locksley - looking good

Warren -  trend seems to be towards us

Mack - We like our chances yet TCU & aggy still possible

Soso - coin flip
Baker - we are in it
Newsome - not over
Reed - Grades, but still a maybe
Ketchum - Possible
Brossette - LSU
Locke - Tough one to pull off in such short time
Any word about Lodge?

Doc,

I might have missed out on some of the 'talk' over the weekend.  I know that SHA is very confident with getting Lodge, with one reason being a relationship that sparked with a UT coed.  I know there are some other reasons but the coed was mentioned as a possible pull to Texas.

Was a similar situation being discussed regarding Mack?  I don't remember coming across anything regarding Mack and why there is a strong feeling he is coming to Texas outside of his relationship with MJ.
Although a girlfriend relationship is not to be taken lightly, I believe these kids get a lot of mature advice and will decide based on this advice.

I, also, heard that Lodge took a real dislike to Texas, during his original commitment and de-commitment.  There was a lot of butt hurt things said and feelings are hard to get over.

This kid liked Murray, Malik and the girl.  But I think he still has some deep seated resentment against UT.

Besides, and I have said this before, do we really want a recruit that doesn't come to Texas for the school and program but only comes because he is buds with someone?

I don't know anymore about Mack and a girl than you - and I have heard the same rumors.

I agree.

But, you know, I think it behooved the UCLA staff to immediately step in and comfort and assure the kid.  They might have done this, but I've not read anything about it, if they did.

I just read that once a player commits to a school, you cannot cast a CB for that player to the school he committed too.  Can anyone verify that as true?  I'm not real familiar with this.  If this is correct, all the CBs for players like Locksley lose a little bit of their thunder.  Yes, it is still encouraging to see experts putting them in for us, however, the lack of more FSU CBs would be explainable.

Bingo -- odell327 you are correct - " you cannot cast a CB for that player to the school he committed too. "

if you want to see a real wild "incorrect" Crystal Ball, look at Deandre Baker which only has 2 Crystal Balls -- both to Texas even though he is committed to Georgia -- so it shows "incorrectly" 100% Crystal Ball to Texas .... anyone that wants to say Deandre Baker may go to Georgia cannot voice their opinion since 6/11/2014 when he committed to Georgia

Those 2 votes are from Bobby Burton and Jeff Howe who flipped their CBs on 1/26/2015 to make it 100% CB to Texas when in reality it may only be 2 of 30 opinions .... 28 that want to vote for Georgia cannot do so after the fact ... true CB percentage should be 7% Texas instead of 100% Texas in this example

OB says QB Will Collins is basically waiting until Tuesday night to see if we offer

If not, then maybe Houston.

247Noles says they keep hearing Kai is trending to us.  They say because the dad has been involved in his own recruiting at Maryland, they have not yet had the full family sit-down to discuss it

None of the Locksleys speaking to media til its done

This is a perfect example of how Crystal Balls percentages are incorrect -- "Howe thinks Baker leans Georgia" However, he can not change his crystal ball to Georgia since Baker is committed to Georgia already ...

and so Howe's CB still says Texas   as he marked it to Texas just last week

I sincerely hope the kid doesn't commit to UT with the expectation of playing as a freshman.  Not going to happen, IMO.

Thanks for the clarification.  I had read that but wanted a 2nd opinion to confirm.  When I read about this, I also read that wrong choices for an already committed player do not hurt your CB %.  Therefore, for those casting CBs, they can throw guesses out there without hurting their 'credibility'.

With that said, the purpose of my posing the question was informational only.  I would assume I was not the only one that did not realize that this was the case.  Furthermore, I am in no way throwing stones or trying to diminish what recruiting analysts do, especially our very own Mike Garland.  This information just makes me take a second look at CBs for a committed recruit.

Finally, Juan I totally agree with you regarding it 'being a lot of wrong'.  I think when you have so many CBs coming in for Locksley there is something to be said about that.  For me, it would be even more meaningful to me if we could still see how many CBs would be coming in as FSU  compared to those for us.
