2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

I just read that once a player commits to a school, you cannot cast a CB for that player to the school he committed too.  Can anyone verify that as true?  I'm not real familiar with this.  If this is correct, all the CBs for players like Locksley lose a little bit of their thunder.  Yes, it is still encouraging to see experts putting them in for us, however, the lack of more FSU CBs would be explainable.

Here is a few random thoughts from me and a little behind the scenes info that I have gotten 7th hand.

We need to quit stressing about our QB situation.  It is going to be just fine this year.  With the slight caveat that one QB is game inexperienced and the other needs to grow up a little.

We have two COLLEGE QB's that have already gone through a year of Charlie Strong and Watson.

The two QB's will be good enough. ......
I've been thinking the same thing. I believe the Dec-Jan recruiting jamboree -- with the added factor that a whole new mental state and attitude will now permeate and take over the squad the rest of 2015 (spring to summer to august to season) is going to build a determination and will and hence development in both Heard and Swoopes.

When these two QBs next hit August camp, they will be in the company of an entirely different atmosphere: Cherry, Malik & Co. The Florida Five (six or seven or ), Boyd & Hill, Wheeler and the rest, and whatever hits the faxes in two more days. I'm giving it a chance. Reason: competition and everyone's hair on fire from now on. And.... DOGS. Florida guys are saying 'we need more dogs and we're bringing it.'

Bingo.  What do you do for a shaky QB - you give him a bunch of giant targets with huge catch radiuses to throw to.  Heard is going to have his pick of long-armed 6'2+ WR's to throw to.  Add in Clarington as a TE 'security blanket' and we should see some productivity from this offense.

Coaches are obviously aware of the OL issues, and its why they went so hard after JUCO and EE prospects.  I expect we'll see improvement this year because of talent, development, and an offensive scheme change.
Right.  The argument for Harris being a game breaker is only in perception.  When a defense loads up against the run and, basically, dismisses your passing game, it figures a big strong receiver like Harris should get a lot of one on one coverage.

Strange as it seems, Swoopes inability and our pitiful OL actually made a star out of Harris.  It, also, illustrates how lacking we were for quality receivers.

The uneducated will not notice how every..single..team played 7, 8 and even 9 boxes against us.  And blitzed 50% of the time.  It was the smart thing to do - against a Sam Houston level OL, lack of game breaking receivers and a rookie QB.

LOL!  I certainly would not consider Hamm an expert.  And he isn't the only one.

I certainly do not disagree with this statement.  That was probably a poor choice of words (experts), however, they all have some credibility regarding recruiting.  As it has been said many times, numerous posters have made it known when a more reliable 'expert' puts in a CB for a recruit.  Nonetheless, the question remains if from my original post...

Higdon still likes our chances with Mack

Burton, however, has gone wobbly on Mack

-- he adds that he thinks Mack will let coaches know tonight

Nahlin says coin flip- us v. TCU

Hamm and Lucci both say aggy

Well based on his twitter.  On the 31st he spoke of waking up with one school on his mind and knowing where he is going (as it's been discussed thoroughly here).  Yesterday he posted pro-TCU stuff.  We have all become more than aware to be hesitant to jump on Twitter posts/reactions as being a definitive gauge on where recruits will end up.  However, unless Higdon or Burton have some 1st hand info, they are completely just taking a shot in the dark.

I want to believe he's coming but I'm pretty torn as to whether it will actually happen.

I think this is a reasonable fear.

Something most of you hadn't thought of - media attention has a huge side benefit for a teenaged boy.  GIRL attention - very important. ;)

Some more 247 summary--

Howe thinks Baker leans Georgia
--  Burton thinks we get him

On Newsome, it comes down to whether we want to go after him

Doc,

I might have missed out on some of the 'talk' over the weekend.  I know that SHA is very confident with getting Lodge, with one reason being a relationship that sparked with a UT coed.  I know there are some other reasons but the coed was mentioned as a possible pull to Texas.

Was a similar situation being discussed regarding Mack?  I don't remember coming across anything regarding Mack and why there is a strong feeling he is coming to Texas outside of his relationship with MJ.
