2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

you have no idea on #2, 4, 6 or 7. that's conjecture.

and yes, he DID check UT out. with his dad. who has known CS for 30 years. that's fact not conjecture.

even aggy mods concede it's a dogfight. the only one who thinks it's a done deal for aggy is you.

you seem to be trying too hard to be 'contrarian guy' doc. just let it play out.
LOL!  Of course I have no idea.  I don't know the family.  Every thing I have said is opinion based on lifes experiences.

I grew up in Austin, My mom and Dad attended UT, I have been imbued with all things UT all of my life.  I had no desire to attend any school but UT.  I bleed burnt orange and I have always loved UT.  Always.

Haven't you followed the same basic scenario?  Haven't most Longhorns?

So why wouldn't he feel the same about A&M?  Particularly since his dad was an aggie football hero?  Yeah, I know his uncle was a Longhorn.  Hell, outside of my parents,my whole family went to A&M.

Now, the logic of an adult is one thing, but the desires of a teenager can be quite different.  What makes sense to us doesn't necessarily trump the emotions of a kid. A kid that has, most likely, loved Texas A&M all of his life.  Am I right?

I can tell you don't like what I am saying one little bit.  But do you see what I am talking about?  Don't you think it is probable that the kid might feel this way?

Wouldn't you, if you were in his shoes?

What I am hoping is, after NSD, that you can come back and tell me how much of an idiot I was.  I can promise you, if I am right, I won't do the same to you.  Because I know how you feel right now because I feel the same.

Hook 'em.

For those that have seen video, what are the positives/negatives of Davis, Baker, Redwine? How would y'all rank them and who do they compare to?

thanks

Do the jerseys numbers have any significance?

1 through 7?

Did not notice that, you could be onto something.

Looks like our OV list this weekend is Burt, Redwine and Major

per Higs

But if Auburn247 and their coach source are correct, then Redwine committed already

I don't see Redwine coming and I see some names being added to this from everything being said.

SHL, I understand there are many arguments why you and I think he would consider UT.  I don't like being put into a position to refute them, because I want the pro - UT arguments to hold sway.

But we wouldn't even be talking about this had last week not happened - right?  Weren't you convinced Murray was a LOCK to aggy?

I just hate to see everyones hopes get up, only to be disappointed.

Doc, I know and most everyone here knows that you're as burnt orange as there is. I'd imagine no one would be more excited about Murray signing with Texas than you and I both.

So I understand that this is purely going by connecting dots on your part and mine.

I think you and I talked back in December. I think I remember thinking Kevin/Kyler would flirt with UT some but be on their way. Well, since then I've had much more information flow my way and of course, the public info about his visit.

The visit by the Murrays had to happen before this could reach the next level. Well, hello next level.

I did post earlier that should we not end up with Kyler, we should feel good about the other QB Kai. Not getting Kyler will not be a big disappointment for me.

But getting him would not JUST be a 4-star QB who can play, but delivers one of the biggest, most violent kick in the nuts we've given aggy since I can remember.

After all the crap they've put us through since their defection to Swaziland, few things could be more satisfying.

Doc, somebody said Kyler wasn't much of a fan until JFF started doing his thing. Don't know if there is any truth behind that, just what I heard or read somewhere
I don't believe this at all.  I think he grew up an aggie because of his dad.  It would have to have been a strange household if he didn't - don't you think?

i never questioned your UT bona fides.

honestly doc, and i know this goes against the grain here, i just don't care THAT much. i like the idea of stealing a coveted legacy recruit from the ags because they'll freak out. but if murray doesn't come...oh well.

coveted recruits often don't work out so i just don't sweat 'em that much (see: perriloux, brantley, gilbert). todd dodge was a huge recruit. so was shea morenz. neither, for various reasons, never did a lot here.

too much uncertainty for me to freak out one way or the other. but again, sticking it to the ags would be fun.

One of the problems Sumlin-Kevin Murray have is that whatever room they're in, it's not big enough for both of them and their egos.

I'm betting that Murray's house is filled with photographs of Murray's playing days in an aggy uniform (back when they were halfway nice looking).

Doc, look at it this way.

If it was in the very best interest of your kid to attend a&m and you knew someone, for almost 30 years, that you respected and trusted would be their teacher/mentor. At UT, the person who would be their teacher/mentor made you uneasy, very uneasy. Wouldn't you do what was BEST for them no matter where you went to school?

I would, in a heart beat. Maybe Mr Murray feels the same way.

Very well said, I think you are telling your behind the scenes story a little with that amazing rebuttal. If you are right and after you tell us this story after NSD I'm buying you a beer SHA next time I'm in Austin.

You are a very observant individual, my friend. Yea, I let some of it spill out right there.

I have thought about this a lot.  I understand every argument every site has put up for the logic of him attending UT.  And there are some really compelling arguments why he should and will.

And the most compelling argument, for me, is the fact that he AND HIS DAD made a UT visit.  Everything else, and I mean everything, is secondary to this, IMO.

Because, and Primal will like this, if my reasoning for him staying an aggy is valid, why would a dyed in the wool aggie even CONSIDER looking at UT?  And I am talking about both Kyle and his dad.

It all flies in the face of an aggys core beliefs and the love of A&M and the hatred of all things UT.

But I think human nature being what it is, emotion will win over and he will attend A&M - probably reluctantly as well.

Lodge quote from Howell's article:

"Well I know about coach Strong and his staff and what he did at Louisville with his offensive coordinator and the offense they ran and the guys they had there and how they developed them," Lodge said. "We looked at it and Kyler (Murray) called me up and said let's roll out to Texas tomorrow. I was like alright I'll give these guys a chance. So we went down there and went over the offense. We sat down and talked about it and got on the board. It's a perfect fit. It could be perfect but they don't have a quarterback right now so if they can land Kyler that would be huge."

word is Lodge is looking to setup an official at UT this weekend but has a few things to work out first. If he can't setup a visit with UT, it's unlikely he'll visit anywhere else.

Hah!  You don't realize how much you are preaching to the choir.

I have a daughter that went to A&M's veterinarian school.  Only because UT didn't have one.

But I can assure you, she grew up a Longhorn.  :)

I'll give you my reasons for thinking this.

1.  He has been an aggy fan since he was a baby.

2.  He has been anti Texas since he was a baby

3.  His dad has played and pulled for TAMU since Kyle can remember

4.  He has dreamed of playing for aggy since he could remember

5.  He has been a long time commit to aggy

6.  He has MANY pals and buddies that came to aggy because of him

7.  He is loaded with TAMU swag since he was a kid

He has been an aggy for life and all of a sudden he is checking UT out?  Unless his dad and Sumlin got into a fistfight, I don't think he just started hating TAMU.  And, even if his dad and Sumlin DID, fight - the kid is an indoctrinated aggie since birth.

It's hard for me to believe he will, all of a sudden, start coveting the aggies hated enemy.

THIS doesn't make any sense to me.

Now, all this being said, I hope to God he pledges UT - not only to get him, but to get his entourage as well.

.
I agree with you. I certainly don't think it's a certainty for the aggies but would call it 60/40 in their favor. Sure hope we're wrong.

We've been debating about Murray, but who isn't excited about Mack?  IMO, he is on the same level as MJ.  This kid is awesome and could very well be the next Malcom Brown.
