Have no clue what he has heard or his sources, just thought it was interesting. I am not getting my hopes up at all.

"So, if the rumors are true and Texas is truly about to land a big name transfer at the quarterback position, do not be surprised if it turns out being Braxton Miller. I have heard these rumors in the previous months that Miller could be headed to Texas, but now the steam really seems to be picking up for this to take place.
It still is far from certain, but is a possibility we have to keep an eye on. Miller to Texas would be a homerun for both Miller and Texas. I think the match of Miller and Head Coach Charlie Strong of Texas would be a great tandem. The Longhorn Nation has their eyes of Texas on this news and will be hoping that it is Miller time in Austin, Texas very soon."

Interesting news. This would be huge if true he is one that could come in and start. that would give the rest of the QB's a year to develop.

If he did come ( I doubt he is ), could he stay healthy? We pinned our hopes on Ash last season and look how that worked out.

I don't look at it as putting all of our hope in Miller. He is a proven QB that would allow us to maximize Watson/Wicklines game plan. I think a mobile QB allows our defense to add flavor. Miller, IMO, would lead to drastic improvement on the offensive side of the ball. You throw in the fact that Heard would now have a quality QB to develop under I think it's a win-win. I believe Heard is further along than many speculate and will be the starter if we are unable to land someone like Miller.

I read that article yesterday The writer is a Longhorn fan who took that rumor the other day and made it Braxton Miller without any proof.

Everytime I read a rumor about Braxton Miller I ask why.

Why would he come to Texas?

He'll stay with Meyer and move to the slot or something like that.

Or if Braxton has an opportunity to go to Oregon and start...why would he come to UT?

I don't think being a scheme QB in Oregon helps you with NFL scouting as much as being successful in a pro style offense. I think that could be a factor. I think Mariota is the 1st QB drafted, however, if more of these spread QBs don't start succeeding in the NFL I think more teams fall of the bandwagon.

But the rumor is we're gonna incorporate more spread principles if (when) Heard wins the job this spring. Unless, of course, Hogan transfers here from Stanford.

Do we even run a pro style offense? I wasn't sure what to call this mess.

I was listening Jim Kleinpeter on a podcast who writes for the New Orleans paper and covers LSU football. He said Miller wouldn't fit LSU offense. He thought Oregon and he heard UH might be in play since Herman is now the HC.

Also, said LSU tried to talk to Miller and couldn't get through to him because as he said he has quote unquote handlers. If he has handlers when he still in college then he sounds like he could be a diva.

The guy's dream of playing in the NFL are on life support and he really has to get this next decision right. I personally have no problem whatsoever with him having people to help him clarify the exact opportunity he would have at a given school. There are a lot of things to be discussed, so having people helping him sort things out is no real surprise.

The real problem is when a recruit has "uncles."

If the Transfer rumors turn out to be Connor Brewer, how disappointing would that be? If any?

Yes, I would be very disappointed if the transfer turned out to be Brewer.  I just don't believe CS / Watson would think Brewer would be the solution to the current QB situation at UT.

As for Miller - he would be a known quality that could certainly help right away.  At this point, I am really unwilling to build up any personal expectations or hope that he comes to UT on rumors but I would be very pleased if he did.

Door is open Braxton...

Hook 'Em!

I don't know what you call our offense either. I do feel we want to be a run first offense. Doing this out of the gun doesn't make us a spread. Formation is different from scheme. I think our offense is suited for a mobile QB who runs 5-10 times a game, throws off of bootleg type plays, all while getting into 4 wide 'pass' plays. I think we want to be a multiple formation offense, utilizing everything from the I to no back. You're right, its not 'pro-style' however I don't consider it as strictly a spread offense either. Being multiple (formations ) makes it much harder for defenses to prepare for. Once again, I 100% believe our offense this year was a product of what we had at QB

I read a post from a pretty knowledgeable Buckeye fan on another board yesterday:

He claims it is common knowledge in Columbus that Braxton Miller is not going anywhere

Miller has had 2 shoulder surgeries and is not close to 100%

Dad does not want him to play again somewhere else

So, we should probably keep any expectations about Miller coming to Texas fairly low.

We will see.....
