2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Bear, I tried to "like" your post but after a dozen or so today, I now get a message saying I've hit my quota of favorable likes for the day.

Anyone else get this message?

I got the same message the other day.  I thought it was strange that you had to ration your "likes".

Have you seen gentry?
Yes, I like Gentry but he declined to enroll early b/c he wanted to play bball... so he is unlikely going to  compete and start.. he won't be ready to be an option in that role right away.. we need someone sooner than later in this key role. Long term, I do think this kid will fit in nicely with Watson's offense. But I'm worried about our Offense next year, too! :)

As far as being ready for ND....The JUCOs better be.... or there is no sense in taking them. You don't take a JUCO over a HS kid unless they can provide immediate help. The only Freshmen who might not be able to make us better right away are OL and maybe DL. The rest should make immediate impact if they are good.

Seriously, look at the team we had on the field in 2014. It don't take too much talent to displace those guys. FIVE 20+ point losses....FIVE !!!! There is a reason Charlie is killing it...these kids know they can start day ONE if they come in and work.

If they don't come in and start hopefully its because the upperclassmen decided to start busting their butts to be the best they could be instead of feeling entitled. That could only make us better as a team. NEW BLOOD HAS TO BRING A NEW ATTITUDE !!!!!

Sept. 5th will give us a lot of answers. Win / Lose won't be the telling factor...TEXAS FIGHT for 60 minutes no matter who wins will be.

Gotcha. I agree.

im very surprised about Fields...unless there is something going on behind the scenes that we dont know about that could come into play between hill and boyd
Fields has a good relationship with Coach Rumph.

He had originally set a visit here , but then took it off.  He said at that time he still liked Texas a lot and might set the OV for later.

After that Boyd backed out of his announcement date and instead, named a top 5.

After that, the Fields OV to Texas was back on.

Two more things -- (1) His dad played in the NFL and he is solid kid, and (2) He has loved LSU his whole life, they just offered him and yet he put us not LSU in his final two.

If nothing else, it tells you how serious he is about us.

This is how I see it.

Here is the Scout Evaluation on Fields

Evaluation

Looks like a running back, speed of a cornerback, and toughness of a strong safety. Fields is likely a corner or even a nickel back to start, but safety could be his home in the future. Very instinctive player who sees the field, reads quarterbacks, and makes plays on the ball. Loves to mix it up and play physical. A very good tackler. Not great length, but strong, and aggressive. Closes on ball well. A striker as well. - Chad Simmons

I see Gentry as a likely redshirt.  He needs time to develop.  He grew up feasting on inferior competition and will have to make some adjustments.  Fill out the body too.

But we will see.

I think Fields is heading to Clemson, but Strong won't turn him down for someone like Boyd/Hill. Fields is arguably the best CB in the country. He's ranked as the #7 CB per 247 and he should be higher (Boyd is #10 and Hill is #9). The problem will be if a scholarship is available. I'm pretty sure Strong is going to save a couple spots for someone like Mack and Fields.

I realize you want to enjoy your Senior year and all, but ya gotta take one for the team if you are wanting to be THE MAN. My take is Gentry expects to RS anyway, so why throw away Senior year to sit the bench for 2015. That makes it scary because we would be a play away from Swoopes taking game snaps.

lol im gonna need some scotch and whiskey with coke lol after all of this  is said and done..anybody else want any? lol

Totally agree. New Mexico HS fb is good, but not elite competition there so he's really untested.  He's a good fit for our offense but not ready to start and we need an answer at qb ASAP.. not just 2 more years from now.. :(

Nickelson might be one JUCO who needs time.  He looks like he could use some body adjustments.  And, although he was only rated as a 2-star, some people think that he will have a chance to be drafted once he gets his body right and gets better coaching.

My wife once told me that.
