FWIW -- Higdon did call all of Malik Jefferson, Deandre McNeal, Anthony Wheeler and Devonaire Clarington to Texas.

I'm a member there and don't recall that he picked MJ. And when he does pick something, he spends three paragraphs explaining how he may not be right.

He did not call Wheeler to Texas until it was obvious, about the same time jabba the hut did.

IMO, Hig and Burton are guilty of playing the game. Imagine the difference in traffic today IF both Irvin and Clarrington were called slam dunks. But if you put just one of them in imaginary play, you get the extra hits and clicks.

Unfortunately, these lines must be read between when ingesting their content.

I tried to explain last night that a kid is not going to flip in 24 hrs without a visit, without even meeting or speaking with the HC, and based only on a phone call to a coach who isn't even working for the school in question. I laughed at 24/7 over that, then Hig pulled the stunt in the 11th hour last night.

I like Bobby Burton but I think he's one of the worst at putting out info designed to get more traffic.

I have not seen this posted yet.  Interesting.

Strong had a meeting with the offensive coaches right after the Texas bowl. He was disgusted with the offense this year and that performance didn't help. He also knows that the OL was atrocious and it effected everything that the offense could and could not do. There was no blame towards any coaches, but he wants big changes for next year. He wants more competition at the QB spot like yesterday. Texas is looking at a few would be senior QBs from other programs that have contacted Texas. None of them were starters last year but all have played at the college level. He wants to open up the offense but knows he cannot do so without better QB play. Strong went to a few skill position players like Shipley and a few others and the feedback he got was that this offense didn't allow players to get into a groove and some felt when Texas was having success they should have pushed tempo a lot more than they did. Some will say that's on Watson (i know I have been critical of him too) but that was more on Swoopes and his inability to process things quickly. There were times this year when Swoopes even towards the end of the season was struggling to get plays off and make his checks. So Strong wants to simplify the offense a lot and implement some spread and tempo but they cannot do that until they get better at the QB spot.

As for recruiting, Texas is going to and is finishing Strong. It says a lot that Texas is a .500 team and can convince some top Florida talent to come this way. Charlie himself is a great recruiter but he also knows he needs a top closer in the Houston and East Texas areas as well as Dallas. They are looking into many options including a position on the team for a HS coach (although that's down the list). Yes, this will be a top 10 class and there is still a possible surprise come signing day.

I can't tell you who the QB is going to be because there are so many moving parts that's it's impossible to predict. Most will say Swoopes because he is the incumbent and that's probably fair. But the staff knows they need to get much better and one thing that's concerning for Watson and Strong is Swoopes lack of quickness and his tendency to get rattled by pressure. Heard has looked good with certain apsects of the offense but not others. Really Struggles under center with the timing passing game and that's one thing Strong is looking to change up to suit the strengths of each player. Heard was not ready last year. Simple as that. Texas has a few guys probably coming in later this month that could add depth and maybe even push for the starting job. I can tell you this, what we saw last year was not acceptable. Several young skill position players on offense have told Strong at end of year meetings that they were not happy with the offense this year. Part of that was scheme but nWatson has had very limited opportunities to do much of anything because the OL play was so bad. There's a reason Texas is taking this many OL with two of them being Juco.

I believe Charlie will turn this around and he's doing it the right way.

Higs called MJ for months. Never wavered.

Strong has landed four 4-stars since we were gang-banged by the Piggies

We now have 11 five- or four-star prospects after today

And are #10 in Rivals team rankings, just behind ND
