- Before I begin, I want you all to know that many of our writers (including myself) are in cramming mode for finals. I am cramming for law school finals where the final is our only grade. Stress is at a high level. I will be doing more in-depth basketball coverage after finals but I want to thank Matt especially for picking up the slack while some of us have finals.
Now onto the game.
1. A win is a win is a win. It was an ugly game but the Longhorns needed that win badly. Helps establish their strength before Big 12 play.
2. Yesterday's game is the reason why Rick Barnes will play defensive minded players over offensive minded players. The defense is what kept Texas in the game.
3. Jonathan Holmes. That is a special player. If he can perform like this all season long, he can create more opportunities for Myles Turner and the other players on the roster. His 3 point GW shot was not pretty but it was good enough to go in.
4. Javan Felix was decent at the point. He did not respond well to the pressure situations late in the game but he did create that last second turnover to seal the victory.
5. Shoutout to Connor Lammert for being a consistent force on this team. He may not be gifted with elite NBA talent but he is good enough to be reckoned with in college basketball.
6. If the Longhorns want to beat Kentucky on Friday night, they are going to need more offensive production. Kentucky starts slow but they wear you down in the second half. Should be a great game.
