so many forum / websites.  so much rampant speculation...
now that aTm defensive coordinator mark snyder is preparing to start walking the dog... (collie)
where on earth does this now leave malik jefferson?
everyone for whom is everyone.. is now keenly aware as per the ongoing two year relationship
between jefferson and coach sumlin.  however, didn't jefferson and the outgoing DC harbor a relationship during that time as well?
what is malik jefferson now thinking regarding his much publicized adoration of aTm?
is this much heralded recruit now ready to fully commit to the aggies?
what gives.... anyone?

#TAMU removing it's DC helps in a big way for a five-star recruit I just @247CrystalBall'd to the Aggies.

Mark Snyder relieved of his duties

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- A&M head football coach Kevin Sumlin announced today thatMark Snyder, the Aggies defensive coordinator, will be relieved of his duties.

"Mark is an outstanding coach and an even better person, but he understands the production needed to be better on the defensive side of the football," Sumlin said. "We wish he and his family all of the best moving forward."

Snyder came to Texas A&M in 2012 when Sumlin was hired as the head coach in Aggieland.

"I appreciate the opportunity Kevin Sumlin gave me to come to Texas A&M and to work on his staff," Snyder said. "I have been in the business a while now and understand it is a production-based business."

"With that being said, I have no doubt Coach Sumlin and the coaches and players will get the job done here," Snyder added. "There is a great commitment to success in Aggieland and this community has been great to me and my family. I am proud one of my daughters has an Aggie Ring and will graduate from this outstanding school."

"I look forward to the next opportunity to coach and wish Coach Sumlin and the Aggies all of the best moving forward, Snyder said.

Sumlin also stated linebacker coach Mark Hagen will serve as the interim defensive coordinator as the Aggies prepare for an upcoming bowl game.

This was old news that was just made official today . I wouldn't consider this some type of game changer. The person replacing is the actual news (not the rumor of). I don't see why this would cause any recruiting waves at this point.

i can certainly understand where you are coming from my pal tejas fan.  however, isn't this basically the very same scenario that we are contemplating with chris clark (michigan)?  he has been stating to most everyone.. that if "hoke" is indeed fired, then he shall seek a commitment elsewhere.  so i would think that these long term recruitment relationships does indeed harbor an impact to some degree with these prospective recruits and their families.

surely, malik has to be somewhat concerned regarding this new development.. it's only natural.

If anything, Malik may be relieved. He certainly has not been encouraged by what he's seen.

As someone else said, the significant news will be who replaces him. That will be when I want to know what Malik is thinking.

With Clark, Hoke is a head coach, not a coordinator. Clark obviously has a relationship with Hoke thats close. I don't think Malik's relationship with the aggy dc was so close.

aaaahh, now see.. i told you that you were a football king!  perfectly logical.  however, some of the other forums are running rampant with all forms of speculation.

So aggy is solidifying their recruiting class by firing and demoting coordinators? I would imagine the most important relationship a player could have would be the one with the coach that he's going to be working with everyday, not necessarily the head coach. So sumlin has been recruiting Malik over the head of his DC? That's pretty strange

He apparently called the offensive plays too in the second half of the LSU game. Very weird.

Why would Snyder's firing sway Jefferson?  Especially without knowing who the next DC will be in College Station?  Extremely premature to say this has "pull."  You have to sell the program as a whole....

well i would strongly suspect that this is exactly what coach sumlin along with his dc have been doing as per the last TWO YEARS.. selling their program as a whole!  now everyone is keenly aware that when it comes to aggy... the only things that can SWAY anyone of today's glamor stricken recruits with.. is the fact that they harbor some pretty fabulous state of the art facilities, as well as the fact that they are now affiliated as per the supposedly all powerful sec.

as i have duly stated beforehand.. isn't this basically the same scenario as the chris clark saga?  chris, has stated many many times... that if brady hoke is hereby fired at michigan, then he shall proposition a commitment elsewhere.  isn't this why TEXAS is now awaiting with baited breath regarding this recruit?  everyone knows that michigan harbors a very strong and powerful program / tradition / culture.  and yet with chris, it seems to be all about the head coach...

this is the primary reason that i started this particular thread.. for this is all extremely strange indeed!

From what my Aggy friend says, Hagen is the coach that Malik is close with. So if Hagen stays that helps them with Malik.

He will be gone before next year's season IMO. It's a matter if they keep him on the staff before national signing day.

Yea, that is what my friend says. They might keep him around just long enough to help with the recruiting and let him go after national signing day.

Believe or not it helps.  Jefferson was none to excited about playing for Snyder.

On Jeffersons OV to aggy Sumlin promised him he would bring in a bigtime DC.

Sumlin has done a very good job recruiting Jefferson

I'm not optimistic about our chances.

well darrell, i would have to state that what you are now espousing is indeed perfectly logical.  everyone now knows that malik jefferson is extremely high upon the new state of the art aggy facilities.  sumlin adds in a new and powerful dc... and this may indeed be the final piece to malik's never ending puzzle... oh well.

Wherever Malik ends up, I don't think he'll last very long. He's already had two concussions. Doc Longhorn can speak to this better than I, but when my son had his second it seemed like a turning point in the doctor's minds. They told me if he had another they would advise he stop playing.

I did not know this about him. Where ever he goes, I hope he doesn't get another one.
