I would just say when was the last pass happy team to win consistantly over time? It rarely happens. You have to be able to run the football in order to have constant success. i won't go into all that an affective run game compliments over the passing game, but I DO agree they compliment each other. That said, as much as you try and achieve "balance" on offense, it's not always a necessity as much as when you do throw it, you need success. Teams that load the box just need to be burned a few times and they will jump out of it. I do agree TCU was saying if you are going to beat me, then your gonna have to throw it. No question about that.I get what youre saying about the run game but that goes both ways... Both the run game and the passing game have to support each other. When Swoopes plays like Swoopes you cant expect the run game to do well... TCU brought the house most of the time because they had, justifiably so, zero respect for Swoopes as a passer. The OLine directly effects the passing game and the running game but our RB talent is much better than our QB talent. Which means the RBs can be targeted all night with little to no worry that Swoopes is gonna beat you through the air...
Gotta agree with this. We just don't have the stable of horses that we normally had. I truly think the staff sees this and that's why they are going all over the country getting as much talent as possible.I would just say when was the last pass happy team to win consistantly over time? Now, if you are not getting any push from your OLine, you can have Bo Jackson in the backfield, and even he would have a hard time having success. Everyone loves to slam Swoopes, (and he has a lot of blame to carry) however, when your OLine has been as splintered as ours has, it's a tall order to be affective at the QB position on a regular basis.
Guys, we need recruiting, and good recruiting to fix this. Right now, it is glaring how mediocre we are across the board offensively.
We can all point fingers and say it;s this guy or that guy, but the reality is, it's a bunch of guys that either create wins, or cost you defeats. Team effort, good talent WITH DEPTH, = winning consistently.
