2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

S DeShon Elliott did visit aggy last weekend

IT says he would flip if they had room, but they need a CB instead.

They say keep an eye on JUCO S Justin Evans who might decommit from aggy and, if so, Elliott might be in line for that spot.

Thus, at the moment, he is still committed to the good guys.

He has been wobbly for awhile which is not a good sign, but I still like him, like his potential and versatility against Big 12 offenses so hopefully we can get him in for an OV.

Any idea why Elliot is looking elsewhere

Apparently he wanted to come in on his OV when the FLA guys were in town, but the UT coaches would not let him.  He got upset about that.  This was an issue with Burt as well.  Perhaps others too.

Most other programs do not operate this way with regard to so strictly dictating when OV will be had. But, we have our reasons.  One of them being that Strong wants to be able to spend more one-on-one time with recruits (and their families) when he does not have to focus on game planning.  One example cited is Malik Jefferson's recent trip to aggy.  MJ is supposed to have spent quite a bit of his visit there with Sumlin himself.  While this is understandable, it also cost Summybear quite a bit of time he might otherwise have better spent game-planning for Missouri

So, we have been focused on scheduling their OVs more "end of season." -- like the big one setting up now for Dec 5th.  With Elliot specifically, Strong apparently wanted he and others like Omenihu to be in Austin when they host some of the other big names, such as MJ.

So, there is still a good chance this all will still work out.  Beating TCU would go along way towards that end.  Or at least a great showing, especially by the D again, with the crowd heavily invested.

It's salvageable.

OK, so it appears that we are still heavily pursuing Kirkland even though it seems like Cherry has a clear understanding with the staff.  I thought it might be an "either/or" with these 2, but apparently not.  Looks like we are willing to take both.

Yes, we are. And we may very well get those two plus Malik. IMO, that would be the best LB class I've ever seen put together.

How many RBs can the Horns take in this recruiting cycle? We seem to have quite a number of prospects uncommitted: Warren, Brousette, Soso, as well as the currently commited 3-4 guys. We have gone from taking one RB under Mack (Whaley) who turned in to a good D lineman, to currently recruiting ten guys. Any thoughts on how this shakes out, commitments to come, decommitments, position changes with recruits?

Right now we have Jordan Stevenson and Tristian Houston

Assuming we hold both of them, then my guess is one more from among Brossette, Guice and Warren

But we may not hold them both

Isn't Johnson considered a RB prospect? Somebody posted they thought he might be the best RB of our current recruits. Also prior talk of him being a DB like his dad.

Warren and Brossette both have standing unconditional invites. We take both if both will come.

Soso Jamambo will not happen. That's too bad, too.

Yes, and he'll get his due shot there. But he is versatile enough that he can play other positions, too.

Johnson's talent is still a bit unknown due to the offense he plays in. For example, he has two receptions in each of the past two years. So his effectiveness in the passing game is a bit unknown. He does average 9 yds a carry though.
