SHA...interesting re our QB. He's been great and showing some running ability in recent weeks.

They better hurry if serious. He grads in dec and plans to enroll at little ut.

Mark...every Katy team I've ever watched plays the fundamentals...they block, they tackle...and they will hit. They do have a couple of running backs this year that can play (although I haven't seen them personally). Unfortunately...their supposed star.... Rodney Anderson..is headed for OU to play for the sooners.

Yea, I know about the OU-bound TB. Today, a guy that would know says we are after the other kid who graduates a year later I think.

We got a Katy coach up here, Greg Miller, to run the Lewisville program a couple years ago. I've met him, talked with him. I really like him. He was great with Brandon. He doesn't have nearly the talent up here to work with that he had at Katy though.

Do you know if Katy High operates kind of like a magnet school...so that no matter where a kid lives in the district..they can still attend Katy High if they provide their own transportation??  They may have changed it..but I think Lamar High in Houston also operates that way or used to.

Loved the raw ability I saw from Dormady at Elite 11. Kid has some serious tools.

Having graduated from a Katy ISD high school, I can tell you that isn't the case.

Each HS has geographic zones and feeder middle schools.  It's the coaching, culture, and commitment to football that sets Katy High apart. It's not a magnet school (at least it wasn't when I graduated in the late 80's - before Katy became a state power).

Dallas Skyline is a magnet school though. If you're in DISD and can play ball, there's a good chance you'll end up at Skyline.

My uncle was once the HC at Woodrow Wilson High here in Dallas. The Skyline thing drove him nuts. He took great pleasure in beating them, whenever he could.

Here's one for Week 3 and I see nothing that stops it from happening. Could be epic. Gladewater is my dark horse state champ for 4A Div. II.

#8 Gladewater vs #3 Gilmer.

Side note - towns are roughly 12 miles apart and have same school colors.
