I found this a bit amusing. Max Olson conveniently leaves out all of the respectful comments made by the Longhorns during the media pressers this week. It made for a good one-sided story, I'll give him that. But It's hard not to be taken aback by the journalism on this story, given the obvious attention paid to Edmond's comments from months ago over any of the respect given this week. Harris' comments weren't even meant to be negative. It's insulting to state that Texas is still one of the biggest football universities in the country?

A big to do about nothing.

Edmond's comment last April is the only one I'd deem disrespectful.  Harris' comment is just dumb.  Why poke the Bear?

charlie strong, often reiterated to everyone.. that he wanted to hereby place the "T" back into texas for toughness.

it was not intended for TRASH TALK!

texas, has lost two years in a row to byu.  how on earth, could we TRASH TALK any opponent.. not to mention one that is currently undefeated.

Trash talk is just stupid. The best way to get your opponents is with performance. We should let that do the talking. But kids will be stupid. Just can't help themselves.

Honestly, outside of a comment made by Edmonds half a year ago and a comment made by Harris that is being greatly overblown, I haven't seen any trash talk from the Texas side.

I agree with this. If something has been portrayed as 'trash talk' in the media, then it was taken out of context.

Sometimes, trash talk can be helpful - it depends on how it's used and what is said..  Generally, however, it's best said during the game.  Anything to keep your opponents from concentrating on the play and concentrating on you instead.

I was a pitcher in high school and we had a catcher that was really mouthy.  When the batter stepped into the box he would say things like  " I noticed you turn your toes out, when you take your stance.  Does this help you square the bat up?  Because if it does, I might try it.".  Of course, the batter would then be thinking about his toes and not concentrating on the pitch.  It worked.

I would've asked your C if he thought that crap really worked and to STFU

Best trash talk I've ever heard was played on me. My good friend David Feherty once asked me if I breath in or out at the top of my backswing. He said whichever I do, if I do the opposite it could add 15-20 yards to my drive. Bastid! Ruined me for the round and for several rounds thereafter.

Oh, and he was usually my partner in ourMon AM game.
