The first match at Gregory Gym this season will host a contest between the SEC’s No. 2 Texas Volleyball (5-0) and the Big 12’s No. 9 Arizona State (4-1), their respective conferences top-ranked AVCA teams. This season the Longhorns have beat more ranked teams than any program in the country, most recently pulling out another close competition with No. 4 Louisville in five sets on the heels of another five-set stunner over No. 6 Stanford at Moody Center.
2014 was the last time the Sun Devils and the Longhorns played with Texas sweeping Arizona State in Austin. The Sun Devils’ only lost this season was to No. 9 Pitt, but they were victorious over then No. 2 Penn State just days before. In last year’s tournament, Arizona State made it to the second round before being defeated by Texas A&M, ending their season 30-2. The game is being broadcast on ESPN2 at 2PM CST.
