Former University of Texas National Champion golfer Jordan Spieth won his first victory as a PGA professional on Sunday in a sudden death playoff against Zack Johnson and David Hearn at the John Deer Classic in Silvis, Illinois.  Spieth, a mere 19 years of age, holed an incredible bunker shot on the 18th hole to solidify his spot in the playoff, which he eventually won after bettering his opponents on the 5th sudden death hole.  Spieth has a handful of top 5 finishes on the Tour this year but the youngster has broken through, winning big just before the British Open kicks off this week at Muirfield in Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland.

With the win Spieth becomes the youngest golfer to win a PGA Tour event since 1931, when Ralph Guldahl, also a Dallas native, won the Santa Monica Open.  Shortly after winning in Silvis Spieth accepted his spot in the British Open which begins on Thursday.

We have received conformation that @JordanSpieth has accepted his spot in The Open, we now have our field of 156 golfers. Game on #TheOpen
