Football season kicks off in just a little over a month and the Texas Longhorns found themselves predicted to finish second, slightly behind the Georgia Bulldogs, in the Southeastern Conference Media Preseason Poll. For playing their first season in arguably the best conference in college football, finishing the regular season with a spot in the conference championship game would be a tremendous accomplishment. The good news for the Longhorns kept coming on Friday, as the All-SEC teams were released and Texas ended up with a whopping 13 players receiving accolades.

Texas offensive lineman Kelvin Banks and kicker Bert Auburn were the lone Longhorns to make the All-SEC first team, but the ‘Horns sent eight players to the All-SEC second team. On offense, quarterback Quinn Ewers, running back CJ Baxter and wide receiver Isaiah Bond all claimed spots. Defensively, linebacker Anthony Hill and defensive backs Jahdae Barron, Malik Muhammad and Andrew Mukuba made the list. Kickoff specialist Will Stone also found himself on the second-team.

Third team players include center Jake Majors, all-purpose player Jaydon Blue and defensive lineman Trey Moore.

The Longhorns finished with a total of 13 players on Preseason All-SEC Teams which was third best in the conference behind Alabama (15) and Georgia (15).

Georgia was predicted to win the SEC Championship game per the Preseason Media Poll, but only nine times in the last 32 years has the Preseason Media Poll’s prediction came to fruition.
