The Longhorns had another great recruiting class in 2013 and have quite a few options who could see playing time this fall on both sides of the ball. Â From defensive backs to offensive linemen, there are incoming freshman as well as junior college players that could make an immediate impact for the ‘Horns in 2013.
The first player that comes to mind is offensive tackle Desmond Harrison.  The JUCO transfer from Contra Costa Community College in San Pablo, California could provide immediate depth to the offensive line and should see some playing time at the left tackle position.  The addition of Harrison will complete the two deep on the ‘Horns offensive line and he will provide quality depth, something that they haven’t had the past few seasons.
Next up is JUCO tight end Geoff Swaim who came from Butte Community College out of Oroville, California.  Swaim, a 6 foot 5 250 pound target who could very well get a chance to prove himself during fall practices.  The Longhorns have two talented tight ends in front of Swaim on the depth chart, but neither junior Greg Daniels or sophomore M.J. McFarland proved that they are the stand out tight end targets for the ‘Horns last year, going for just 90 and 125 yards receiving respectively during the 2012 season.
Even with a linebacking corps that is deep and talented, linebacker Deoundrei Davis has the size and speed to see the field for the ‘Horns this fall.  Davis, the four star recruit and No. 5 linebacker in the nation according to Rivals.com will need to compete with other linebackers that are battling for playing time like Dalton Santos, Steve Edmond and Peter Jinkens.  It wouldn’t surprise me if he did get playing time due to his great size at 6 foot 3 215 pounds and tackling ability.
It’s a hard task to break into a deep depth chart as an incoming player, but these three guys have the best chance to make an immediate impact in 2013 and help the ‘Horns back to their pre-2010 ways of winning.
