https://www.hornsports.com/images/depth_chart_Baylor.jpgThe depth chart for the Baylor game was disseminated prior to Mack’s weekly presser on Monday and the most notable change was a no-change. Despite suffering a toxic avenger-style wrist injury in the 4th quarter, David Ash remains the starting quarterback for the Longhorns when they take the field against the Bears on Saturday. Undoubtedly Ash will be playing through a considerable amount of discomfort, if not flat-out pain. This is particularly promising news, seeing how his wrist was the size of a small cantaloupe immediately after the injury occured. If you watched the entirety of the Red River Rivalry you saw Texas players dropping like flies with injuries. Brandon Moore was carted off the field and took a trip to the hospital… Donald Hawkins sprained his ankle… Jackson Jeffcoat tore his pectoral muscle and is done for the year… Steve Edmond was on the ground writhing in pain at one point in the game. It was a battle of non-epic proportions.Â
Jordan Hicks could very well be back this week and it is possible we will see Malcolm Brown return, although he is listed as 3rd string running back, behind Joe Bergeron and Johnathan Gray. With Jeffcoat out for the season, junior Reggie Wilson will be assuming the end position to help pass rush and stop the run. The defense has had its share of issues and it is likely these issues will manifest themselves in the Baylor game unless things get transformed soon.
