This week Texas Volleyball rose to the fourth slot in the AVCA Poll, marking their highest rank since the beginning of the season. After three losses in preconference – the program’s season opener to unraked Long Beach State followed by defeats at the hands of two Top Ten teams (now #5 Stanford and now #9 Washington State) – the Longhorns have found their chemistry and unlocked resiliency to sluggish starts. Texas remains undefeated at 11-0 in the Big 12 Conference and their development as a team even more evident with a schedule that boasts a 10-2 record over ranked teams this season.
Today the Longhorns embark on another back-to-back match road show in Morgantown, West Virginia, where the Mountaineers have struggled at 2-9 in Conference and 9-15 overall. Texas leads the series with WVU 22-0. Following their road trip, five Conference games remain for the reigning National Champions before the NCAA Tournament begins. The next few weeks will prepare them for not only their seed but the mental toughness that will be required when they will likely face some of the top programs in the country, some of which they are very familiar. Tonight’s match is at 5PM CST followed by Friday night’s match at 4PM CST, both on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
