Tom Herman and the Texas Longhorns had a huge recruiting weekend, with multiple commits and coveted recruits taking their official visit to the 40 Acres. 2020 four-star offensive guard, Logan Parr, shares what impressed him the most, relationships with staff and players, and what sets Texas apart from other programs.

Logan Parr was Texas’ second commit in the class of 2020 when he announced his decision back in October of last year. Since then, he has been fully locked and loaded for the Longhorns.

Hailing from O’Connor High School in Helotes, Texas, he is the No. 7 offensive guard in the nation and the No. 24 player in the state of Texas per 247Sports.

At 6-foot-3, 280 pounds, he will be a huge asset to Herb Hand and the offensive line, no pun intended.

Parr says his relationship with his future position coach is as solid as can be.

“Coach Herman and coach Hand were the main reasons why I chose Texas over my other offers, due to the relationship I built with them and how personable they are.”

Herman’s hospitality is also one of the reasons why this weekend was a such home run for Parr.

“My official was great! It’s something I will never forget and I was glad to be able to spend it with my family and all the guys. What impressed me the most was coach Herman’s house and the different kinds of food trucks he had lined up for us when we arrived.”

Texas had in impressive list of recruits making their way to Austin; Vernon Broughton, Jaylen Garth, Chad Lindberg, Jake Majors, and Chris Thompson all joined Parr for the festivities.

Parr already has good relationships with a lot of Texas offensive line commits and targets, and he added more friendships during his official visit, including one highly touted target for the Longhorns.

“I talked to the entire group of guys this weekend and bonded with each and every one of them. I met Chris [Thompson] for the first time and we really hit it off. I really hope he picks Texas when it’s all said and done.”

The Chris mentioned is four-star Duncanville safety Chris Thompson, who Texas is hard after for a signature.

The visit weekend was definitely one of the more exciting ones in recent years. The Longhorns are coming off a historic season and Parr says the team is just getting started.

“What was being preached during the weekend is what the Longhorns will accomplish in the next few years.”

The city of Austin has a heightened buzz this year, and Parr says the aura around the city and the team is a special one.

“You can really tell how much the program means to the Austin area and the campus. The players here are treated really well, and the students around campus welcomed us for the weekend.”

The excitement of the faithful city and the national buzz the Longhorns are getting is making it hard for Parr to wait to enroll, though it won’t be too long until he steps onto campus as a student next year.

“I’m graduating in December and can’t wait to get to Texas in January. I can’t wait to get into workouts and really beef up and get faster and stronger to help me during my time at Texas.”

All in all, the official visit was a success for the longtime commit. For current or future players considering the Longhorns, Parr shares the one thing that has the Longhorns on a pedestal.

“What sets Texas apart from other schools is the people involved with the program and how real they are with you.”
