Five-star quarterback Dia Bell, the No. 1 passer in the 2026 class and Texas’ crown jewel commit, announced Sunday that his senior season at American Heritage (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) is over due to an injury and he will have the procedure to correct the injury.
Bell didn’t reveal specifics, but the setback comes after a strong start to his final year, highlighted by a 28-point comeback on national TV. It also halts momentum from a summer in which he dominated the Elite 11 Finals, earning overall MVP honors and cementing his spot atop Rivals’ quarterback rankings.
The Florida Gatorade Player of the Year threw for 2,597 yards and 29 touchdowns as a junior, completing 70.6% of his passes before a leg injury ended that season. His Elite 11 performance reassured Texas coaches that his long-term trajectory remains elite.
Bell committed to Texas over a year ago and has been an active recruiter for the Longhorns’ 2026 class. While his high school career ends sooner than expected, his next chapter in Austin carries massive expectations and plenty of reason for optimism.
