Fresh off a Sweet 16 appearance and nearly a berth in the Elite 8, Sean Miller and the Longhorns received their first commitment from the transfer portal and it is a big one. Colorado transfer Isaiah Johnson announced his commitment to the Longhorns via his Instagram, giving Texas a talented scoring threat with three years of eligibility remaining.
Johnson, a native of the Los Angeles, California area and three-star high school prospect, enrolled at Colorado last summer. He shined in his freshman season in Boulder, averaging a team-leading 16.9 points and three assists per game.
Johnson entered the portal on March 27th and quickly became a hot commodity, ranking as the third best available point guard and twelfth best player in the portal, according to the 247Sports Transfer Portal Rankings. His portal ranking also indicates he is a four-star transfer prospect.
With the departure of Tramon Mark, Jordan Pope and Dailyn Swain, Johnson’s commitment could not come at a better time for Miller and the team.
