The Jim Schlossnagle era on The 40 Acres will begin with a Southeastern Conference baseball schedule that includes a home series against his former team, the Texas A&M Aggies. The Longhorns will open conference play in Starkville, Mississippi against Mississippi State on March 14 before hosting the LSU Tigers for a three-game series on March 21. The remainder of host games for Texas against SEC opponents includes Georgia, Auburn and Florida.
Per SEC guidelines, teams will play two permanent opponents and eight rotating opponents for a total of 30 conference games. Last season, the SEC sent 11 teams to the NCAA Baseball Regionals, including four teams in the College World Series.
