Longhorns represented with three players in Super Bowl LIX

Super Bowl LIX kicks off on Sunday, February 9 at the Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. Three former University of Texas football players will participate in the game, two wearing Chiefs jerseys and one wearing an Eagles jersey. Sunday’s contest marks the 19th time in the past 20 years that The University of Texas will be represented in the Super Bowl by former players.

Four-Star EDGE Derwin Fields Commits to Texas Longhorns

Charles Omenihu was a standout defensive end at the University of Texas, where he earned Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year honors in 2018. Known for his versatility and pass-rushing skills, Omenihu was drafted by the Houston Texans in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He later joined the Kansas City Chiefs, where he has become a key player on their defensive line.

Xavier Worthy – Wide Receiver, Kansas City Chiefs

Xavier Worthy made a name for himself at Texas with his explosive speed and playmaking ability. As a freshman, he set the school record for receiving touchdowns in a season. Worthy declared for the NFL Draft after his junior year and was picked up by the Chiefs. His agility and route-running have made him a valuable asset in Kansas City’s high-powered offense.

Moro Ojomo – Defensive Tackle, Philadelphia Eagles

Moro Ojomo was a dominant force on the defensive line for the Longhorns, known for his strength and ability to disrupt the opposing offense. After a successful college career, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles. Ojomo has continued to develop his skills in the NFL, contributing significantly to the Eagles’ defensive front.

These players have not only represented the University of Texas with distinction but have also made their mark in the NFL. As they take the field in the Super Bowl, Longhorn fans will be cheering them on, proud of their achievements and contributions to their teams.
