Texas Football announced a home nonconference game against Louisiana Tech in 2028. The Longhorns will open the season on September 2 at Darrell K. Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium against the Bulldogs, a team they have played just once before. The matchup marks the second nonconference game on the schedule, joining an already solidified game against the UTSA Roadrunners.
In their previous meeting Texas defeated Louisiana Tech 45-14 to open the 2019 season. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger threw four touchdowns and the ‘Horns picked off the Bulldogs twice.
The current Southeastern Conference guidelines require eight conference matchups, but that could change four years from now. Texas will add at least one more nonconference opponent to the 2028 schedule with the potential for another.
