Luke Harrison put together the best outing of his career Saturday afternoon. The Texas offense made sure it didn’t go to waste. The No. 2 Longhorns bounced back from Friday’s extra-inning loss to even the series with an 11-2 win over Ole Miss at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
Harrison improved to 2-0 on the year after navigating seven innings, a career high in length — and surrendering just two unearned runs. The big left-hander struck out eight batters, which was one off his career best. Meanwhile, he limited the Rebels to five hits and a single walk on 102 pitches. This was exactly the kind of performance Texas needed after dropping the series opener in 11 innings the night before.
The Longhorns jumped on the board early, plating two runs in the first inning when Anthony Pack Jr. singled through the left side to score Ethan Mendoza and Aiden Robbins. Robbins initially appeared to be thrown out at the plate. However, an obstruction call by the umpires kept the run alive and put Texas up 2-0.
Ole Miss answered in the third, using a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly to tie things at two. That’s where Harrison put his foot down. He held the Rebels scoreless the rest of the way while the Texas lineup caught fire.
Mendoza was the offensive catalyst, racking up a game-high three RBI on the day. He delivered the go-ahead hit in the fourth. Then he added a sacrifice fly in the sixth and capped his afternoon with a run-scoring single in the seventh. Robbins and Adrian Rodriguez each contributed two RBI as the Longhorns poured in nine unanswered runs — two in the fourth, three in the sixth, and a four-run seventh to put it away.
Texas (17-1, 1-1 SEC) also celebrated its first traDISCHions Day of 2026 before first pitch, honoring former Longhorn J. Brent Cox. The right-handed pitcher helped Texas reach three straight College World Series, highlighted by the 2005 national championship.
The Longhorns now have a chance to take the series Sunday afternoon. First pitch from UFCU Disch-Falk Field is set for 1 p.m.
