Your Top 7 Longhorns

No mention of Marty Akins?  Maybe not a top 7, but he was the first Wishbone QB to be named All-American.  Some pretty great players

off the '61 (LB Johnnie Treadwell, a 6'6" BADASS) and '63 teams...Duke Carlisle led UT to a NC over Staubach and Navy.  Brad Shearer,

the great DE on the '77 team, won the Outland Trophy, defensive leader on a team that played for the NC.

We have been fortunate to have had so many guys play tremendous football for the great University of Texas.  So fortunate.  It's tough

picking the best of them all.  The best TWO, IMO, are Nobis and Campbell.  Those two are the toughest and best that ever played for

UT.

Hook 'em Horns!!  Thank God (and my parents, who paid for it) I got to attend the University of Texas!

Earl Campbell, forever no. 1

then in no particular order,

Bobby Layne

Derrick Johnson

David Maroul

Ben Crenshaw

Cat Osterman

Kevin Durant

why is every post nothing but football players?  the question was top seven longhorns.  seriously, is everyone so fixated on football that nobody from outside of the football arena gets a mention?

and that's just sports.

re-read the original post. it was about 7 football posters in the M-N press room.

if they want to expand it for all ut students,  they could put up 7 farrah fawcett posters from the 70s and i'm good.

Did you know Walter Cronkite did NOT graduate from UT?  He did indeed attend UT, but dropped out of school his junior year.

neither did kevin durant, but nobody seems to have a problem calling him a longhorn

cheese, i started to list uncle walter too.
