I'd advise to take a peak at 247 if you have a chance. Saying one of the latest coach names, Jim Mora, that has popped up is actually reaching out to a blue chip RB texas is after and talking as if he is coming to texas

Mora is a smokescreen IMO. Atleast for now.
Please hire John Harbaugh, Jimbo Fisher, or Gus Malzahn!

Saban is too old. He's on the decline, and it will take him 2 to 3 years to adjust to the BIG 12 . Then he's likely to retire just as Texas begins winning again and we'll be back to square one. I'd prefer the new coach not be over age 55.

Yeah, I'm sort of thinking along those lines too. This search seems to be all over the place with a new flavor for each day.

How can they text recruits... isn't it a dead period?
Great question and I honestly don't know all the rules. But this news came about from the Alamodome today.

Even if it were Mora, no way in heck he slips up and lets the cat out of the bag with a text to a recruit. Would not be a good way to start your tenure by stealing the thunder of the announcement from your employer.

The recruit is Joe Mixon & contact was handled through his HS coach. Many ways to communicate during a dead period.

Actually I think coaches can contact recruits via phone etc, just no in person contact is allowed right now. May be wrong about that but I think I read it somewhere the other day.

This was Burton's response.

"It could be something as simple as Mora dismissing Texas rumors. Or it could be something more. Mixon's coach felt like it was something more."
