Interesting how history has a way of repeating itself. Brian Kelly is in his third year as Notre Dame head coach. He could have something in common with some other ND head coaches like Frank Leahy, Ara Parseghian, Dan Devind and Lou Holtz.

All he has to do is win the BCS Championship Game. If he does he will have become the 5th head coach to win a National Championship in their 3rd year at the school.

Going back even farther, in 1920 they didn't have national championships but if they did Knute Rockne was 9-0 and it was his third year.

I will be on the side of Notre Dame no matter which evil empire SEC team they play. and either way never underestimate this:

I saw the "3rd times a charm" stat and I think it might damn well be fate that Notre Dame wins it this year. I am not a fan of the ND football team but they have some cool ass history to their football program. I think the Irish win the BCS Championship much like we did against USC in '05 when everybody thought Matt Crynart and Reggie Cheatbush would tear us apart.

The USC/UT analogy is a good one and although I join you in no love for the Irish, I am a fan for one day.
