Spring ball is here and David Ash is the #1 guy for the Longhorns at the position without question. A lot of chatter about the second string battle going on with reports that Connor Brewer slowly making a case for the #2 spot. Brewer reportedly took 2nd team snaps last week as did McCoy but McCoy is still the #2 qb according to most, but my question is this:

How satisfied will Texas fans be if the QB depth chart remains Ash # 1 and McCoy #2? I would have to think Overstreet and Brewer would get playing time or we definitely lose one or both to transfer.

Not sure what the thought is on Overstreet. I thought the guy would most definitely get a shot at playing backup to Ash.

Lot of spring ball left so no time to panic but I would much rather see someone other than McCoy at #2.

Where's this guy????

My opinion? McCoy may be getting some second string snaps, but will not....I repeat WILL NOT see the playing field this season. First, his whiny bitchy attitude during the OU game two seasons ago. Second, his immaturity during the Alamo Bowl this season. Finally, I don't think the guy would've received a scholly at UT if his lady name were anything other than McCoy.

I think the coaches are keeping him happy until the fall starts. Overstreet will be our #2, with Brewer a close #2b.

Just my two cents

I think Brewer ends up as the #2 (whether or not the coaches list it that way on the depth chart is anyones guess). Overstreet is probably still a year away from being able to see any significant time. Accuracy is apparently still a concern with him. Wouldn't surprise me to see Major put a few plays in for him though.

I really would love to see the east texas kid get the number two spot and get some pt. He looks the part, thats for sure.

heck, im excited about our qbs for the future. Overstreet, Swoopes, and Heard. With our new offense Applewhite has plans for, they seem to fit the system

We have a handful of talented kids - we need to make sure we get it right and groom the right guys for the future. Right now we just flat-out have too many qb's. If Case maintains his job as 2nd string..... I might blow a gasket.
