Why no OC Coach

Some of the coaches he's got May be in play for other positions. I think there is some question about the final makeup of this staff beyond just who is OC. If Chambers has been re-assigned we need a TE coach and I hope they make Brewester an offer he can't refuse.

Many programs have a receivers coach that handles both TEs and WRs. You don't necessarily have to have a dedicated TE coach in an on-the-field position. God knows we don't use TEs anyway.

Jesus.................not on OUR time. Try 2 dates. The end of the dead period and signing day - mandated by the NCAA. Fairly certain that those 2 dates were set without any input from Charlie.
Who exactly are you expecting to lose on Thursday if there is no OC? Please tell me who is jumping ship right away? These recruits are more willing to wait and see what happens then most frantic followers of the program. Wickline is a potential OC, he has had 10 years in the OSU offense, Watson is in Austin right now, and even though most don't like him, he is an OC, he runs an offense most are afraid HS students won't like (for whatever reason, bama recruits fine)..just chill..

First of all, uncertainty at the coaching position this close to signing day is not a good thing, and it's ridiculous to try and spin it as a non-factor. Sure, Wickline and Watson are both in Austin. There's still uncertainty until someone is named OC, and if one of them is going to be in that role, then they need to go ahead and just announce it then.

Watson isn't named OC at this point in time. UT is not Bama, and the Big 12 is not the SEC. Both schools and conferences have entirely different styles of play matched to the strengths and weaknesses of their conferences.

Also, to answer your question, one of our WR commits for this class announced he would be taking other visits once the dead period is over. If anything, not having an OC in place is not only going to hurt in retaining players, but also trying to recruit and flip other players. It's hard to sell a player his role on the team when there isn't an offensive identity in place. Can you imagine how that that conversation would go? "So, you're a top WR prospect in the country, huh? Well, we don't have an OC, but I can assure you that we are going to run and pass the ball, and try to score points. You're perfect and this is the best place for you to get to the next level. You should decommit from that top program with a great offense you're planning on heading to and join us. " ....Great stuff.
