Well put! I get that some are disappointed, and to an extent agree, considering hopes of Saban. But, heck, Strong may end up being as good or better hire than any of 'em. I too have been wary about the flavor of the month coach who happens to be the hot commodity based mostly on what he's done recently. Strong has a "strong" resume as a whole. You can choose to believe whatever you want to believe, but the fact is, Charlie Strong created a great program out of a pile of crap and fielded fantastic defenses at Louisville. He is about to have his QB get drafted #1. He dismantled the #3 team in a BCS bowl last year. Strong was a top choice if this had happened last year, but now we have the Saban B.S., and the flavors of the month in Malzahn and Fisher that everyone is enamored with. People will be upset with this hire, but this guy coaches with a chip on his shoulder, should have been a head coach before the Louisville gig, and is ready to prove something on the biggest stage. I think it will be fun to watch. And our defenses will be sick.
As noted in my post just a bit earlier, I am a little concerned that he hasn't been a HC in a big setting, but he obviously has been a DC in the biggest of settings, and he's experienced a bit of this as HC too in the Sugar Bowl victory over that very program he excelled as DC of.
A bit cautious, but certainly hopeful with this hire
