Other than saban who I'm not sure we have much of a chance unless we throw 10plus a year at him .

1. David shaw - he's proved he can win big games can have a elite defense and groom qb's .

2. Chad Morris is from the area so recruiting will instantly be there and so will good qb play

3. Will mustchamp has been here our defense was top 3 with him has recruited here

Intrested to hear some thoughts on other names and why

Steve Spurrier.

Should have hired him BEFORE he joined South Carolina. deLOSS dud was not paying attention or using his brains properly.

what has steve spurrier won at SC?

the fear and respect of power houses like Georgia, Florida, LSU, Alabama, despite the relatively mediocre recruits at his disposal.

the hallmark of a good coach - being able to beat ranked teams with average players through smart planning, proper coaching, timely in-game adjustments, and use of sound tactics. Mack Brown and his favorite offensive coordinator Greg Davis have never demonstrated those qualities.

The Spurrier era at Florida was downright scary. I like his grit and he's a damn good coach. Maybe getting a little too old but he still has his punch.

And he drinks Coors Golden.

Texas propositions Saban - without question, first and foremost. His agent may say not interested but they will initiate conversation.

Its hard to say WHO it will be, and short of Saban the fan base will be split on the hire.

Saban, but doubt that would materialize...

Shaw - hard nosed, good defense, good with QB's... And stanford doesnt get the 4 & 5 star recruits at abundance like we do

Mora... Very hard nosed, no bullshit... In 1 year changed complete culture at UCLA.. Ucla pays hard nosed, hit em hard football.. Violence.... With NFL experience.. Great for recruits

Texas is in an odd position. They either have to go Saban or go with a younger guy that could or couldn't pan out.

Let me ask a question. Looking at the current Big 12 coaches - are there any that you would take or any that Texas would realistically pursue?

Despite the current mess mike gundy is about it
I have gone over the potentials in my mind and while there are plenty of good coaches in the Big 12 I just can't see UT courting a current Big 12 coach - which is sad. Can you imagine what Art Briles could do with Texas recruits?

No one in big 12.. Briles too old, gundy no defense, stoops... F@#K stoops...

Right now tapping the pac 12 is not a bad idea.. Conference is on rise, good tough coaches... Cept kiffin.

I think Saban is a pipe dream. Why would he leave Alabama? From what I have read, Muschamp has no love for Austin. He felt like he was lied to, and I doubt he would return. I would love Les Miles, but again I don't think you could pry him out of LSU?

Agree. Saban is not a realistic choice. Steve Spurrier might want to join a big school like Texas though he is getting old. However, age hasn't prevented Bill Snyder from leading KSU to repeated wins over Texas. Even if it's only 3-4 years, it would still be better than 12 years with little to show with an imposter ... like Mack. (Has anyone counted the number of Big 12 conference titles under Mack Brown against that of Bob Stoops????)
