Barry Switzer, has hereby stated that " Texas, is the best coaching job in America; Baylor's Art Briles would make them like an Alabama."
Good ole Barry Switzer.... he's akin to good ole Dick Cheney.... whenever they speak, you had better consider the source..... and then check your wallet.
I for one, may openly applaud ole Barry's first part of his accolade. Texas, is indeed the best coaching job in America. And for this, we shall forever be thankful. But it's the second half of his statement that I shall take offense too.....
I could never become worthy enough to speak on behalf of Longhorn Nation. But I am most certain that the "faithful" would never appreciate "Longhorn Football" turning into Alabama..... no matter who the head coach is.
I shall never ever forget that wonderful evening during the 2005 MNC, when the ESPN "Gameday" commentators were having their pre game discussions / predictions. One of the host asked commentator Lee Corso, "just what team was he rooting for to win the National Championship"..... Texas vs USC? Lee Corso, stated that "he was going with Texas"! The other host commentators wanted to know why did he choose Texas? Lee Corso's answer..... "because USC has never played a football team like Texas....."
I shall never ever forget those words...
Gents / Ladies, it has never ever been about one particular coach.... now has it! It has never really been about Art Briles, vs Nick Saban vs Pete Carrol vs Mike Tomlin. The truth is, that when it comes to TEXAS Football.... it's about the BRAND!
All we have ever needed, is just a particular and yet special head coach. A coach that shall know just how to apply that special Brand of football to our players. And be consistent with this approach. Most of our players are Texas bred.... and this "Brand" is in their heritage. For the players that aren't Texas bred.... this "Brand" shall become their legacy....
