Wells Report

Reading the disgusting detailed actions of Incognito. Are all NFL locker rooms like this?
I have a buddy who covered the 49ers for the Merc, he always said they were pretty professional. But everyone hears stories about all of kidding and shyte-giving.

I have personally only been in pro baseball locker rooms. Those can get a bit ridiculous. Here is one example -- In the early 2000s, the Padres had an outfielder names Brain Giles. I knew the manager so I was able to get inside a few times, got to meet folks, that sort of thing. Giles was a total groomer if you know what I mean (100% of everything). And he liked to greet anyone who came to the locker room door with nothing on at all and offer to shake their hand. He did this with a straight face and otherwise good manners as if there were nothing unusual happening. He thought this was hilarious. And to be honest, it was kinda funny seeing how different people reacted, but was definitely not the type of behavior you see outside a locker room.

As to the name-calling, there were a lot of nicknames being used. I think I heard more nicknames used than actual names. But I never heard anything that would cross over into racist nicknaming. But, small sample size.

148 pages? i'll pass. let me guess...incognito is a boor and martin's an oversensitive wuss.

EDIT...OK, still haven't read the report but have read excerpts and heard snippets on espn. incognito's an even bigger tool than i thought. and while i still think martin may not necessarily be tough enough emotionally for the nfl, i'm more sympathetic to his situation than i was previously.

I haven't read all of it but I read enough. Before all of this, I scoffed a bit at the idea that Martin had actually experienced "bullying". Especially when those text exchanges came out showing that Martin had said some pretty inappropriate stuff himself. But after reading through thirty pages of the Wells Report, it's clear that Martin was a real victim. What we didn't know before was just how much of a victim another player and an athletic trainer were. And just as guilty as Incognito are Jerry and Pouncey. I'm not remotely surprised to see that Pouncey acts like he does. He and his brother proved how dumb they are before they ever even donned "Free Hernandez" caps.

A couple of generations of Texan DLs have always insisted Incognito is the biggest douche in the league.

They said he was a dirty player. Even in preseason games.

I read most of it and your initial assessment was predictably accurate. It's definitely not heart warming stuff, but nothing in there completely shocked me. It's really an unfortunate combination of a guy who is accustomed to acting like a complete a$$hole, coming into contact with a kid who took it a lot harder than most football players would.

You can't help but feel terrible for Martin, but I didn't see anything in there that led me to believe that Incognito was actually trying to destroy the kid. He's just a stupid ma and in his own mind he probably thought he was toughening Martin up. So yes, Incognito is a deplorable prick, but on the NFL sliding scale of bad behavior, I'm not even sure that puts him anywhere near the top of the list.

I'm actually most disappointed that nobody on the team ever stepped up to put Incognito in his place with some of the more blatent stuff. Let's be honest, he may have been the ringmaster of the o-line, but he wasn't the most important or influential leader on the team. Somebody on that team should have put his a$$ down when he started dropping n-bombs (-er, not -a) on the kid and claiming ownership of him.

The whole situation is just very disappointing.

one of the best "back stories" of the 1999 TEXAS v Bugeater game (yes, they used to be the bugeaters) was listening to Richie talk so much pre game caca only to see Chris Hampton and Shaun Rodgers with the WWF worthy tag team ABUSE they laid on him. . ..those 2 spent more time in the Neb backfield than their QB. . . .

No doubt the Dolphins team trainer or O-Line coach should've stepped in when Incognito crossed the line.

Sounds like a hot mess with no good guys. Not going to read a 148 page report.

Based on what others have said:

A wuss

A real jerk

A team with not one player or staff member willing to do the right thing.
